I have heard stories from my dad about Smitty for my whole life.Like serving in Japan together and my dad,Smitty and their wifes,Betty and Norma, and dogs in a row boat together. I could only imagine how it felt when the dogs started fighting ! My dad ,Sam Todd has looked for Smitty it seems for 50 years. We today sat down and looked on line and found this Obituary. My dad started to tear up and said he wished he could pay his respects in some way and we found the Guest book. We hope the family is doing well and...Smitty Thanks for the memories!! Sam Todd

It is with great sadness that I learned of Sarge's passing. I worked with him on the LAX construction project and spent a lot of time talking about his experiences which were of great interest to me. He was always willing to help me out and provide advice from his vast safety experience.

My favorite thing about him was that he would not sugar coat his opinion which is quite refreshing in this politically correct world.

Sarge - you will be missed.

Sarge was one of my first teachers in the blasting profession. I worked with him while at DNR and we also socialized quite a bit. He was one of a kind and will be missed. Also a true a patriot in service to his country. He used to always tell us "Keep your powder dry!" Godspeed old friend.

I was so sorry to hear about "Smitty". I have so many happy memories of times spent with the Barnett family. Smitty was always ready with a teasing remark. My prayers are with all the family.
