Several days ago, I thought left this message on this site, but cannot find it. Perhaps I was too upset. This poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson describes Nancy in many ways:
To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of the intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;
to know that one life has breathed easier
because you lived here.
This is to have succeeded.
By all counts, Nancy succeeded as she brightened our lives. I cannot describe how much I will miss her. What a wonderful friend!

Please accept my heartfelt sympathies to all of Nancy's family as you now move through your grief together.
Although I teach as an adjunct for another department at Ivy Tech, I was very privileged to get to know Nancy when we served on the Faculty Council together. What a joy she was (even in meetings) and I am so blessed that our pathways intersected. I shall forever remember her kindness, care, compassion, positive attitude, and insightful wisdom shared.

This image of Nancy is so lovely and so perfectly depicts my memories of her. I never think of Nancy without a smile on her face. She was a warm, lovely, intelligent woman who gave so much of herself to her family, friends, and students. May her spirit remain with all of us.
To Ed and Andy, my heart goes out to you in your loss.

Ed and Andy, it's so hard to put into words what Nancy means to me. She was so easy to work with and gave me the freedom to develop as an instructor. But she was so much more than my "boss." She was a dear friend, mentor, and confidante. We shared so many joys and successes but also tears, frustrations, and losses. No matter what was going on in my life, I could always share it with Nancy and feel so much better afterwards. The hallway in our office is so quiet and empty without her laughter. And my life is so much emptier without her presence. But my life is forever enriched for having known her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue in the hearts of all the lives she touched.

This special lady was in a league of her own. She helped me develop a love for breaking down sentences as well as perfecting my writing skills. Mrs. Nancy Grammer had a smile and laugh that was contagious. She will be greatly missed. My prayers are with you Mr. Grammer and your family. This lady was a real gem.

I was a student of Mrs Grammer at Boonville Jr High. She was a wonderful teacher. She brought a sense of calm and encouragement to class creating an ideal learning environment. She was a beautiful woman with a smile that lit up her face. I have thought of her over the years and appreciate having been fortunate to have had her for my teacher. She was exceptional.
