James C. Omer, 83 of Evansville passed away at 11:50 pm, Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Signature HealthCare.
James was born October 15, 1930 in Wheatcroft, Kentucky the son of the late W.T. and Thelma (Travis) Omer. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. James was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church. He retired from Amax/Peabody Coal in Western Kentucky. James was an outdoorsman and loved to fish.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Betty (Daniels) Omer of Evansville, daughter, Pamela Lee Omer of Evansville, son, Barry Omer (Sally) of Poland, ME, granddaughter, Jessica Dillman, great-grandson, Brodie Dillman and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Anna Sue Christerson and Bill Omer.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Monday, June 9, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Dr. James Frasier officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 pm until 7 pm, Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Washington Avenue Baptist Church, 1518 Washington Ave., Evansville, IN 47714.
