To the Worthington family;

On behalf of the Board of Directors and members of the Alamo Chapter, Distinguished Flying Cross Society, we express our deepest sympathies with the passing of your dear father, grandfather and friend, Calvin C. (Cal) Worthington.

During his service in the Army Air Corps during WWII, then Captain Worthington distinguished himself as a true hero having been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross as a B-17 pilot on 29 combat bombing missions over Germany. His life has left an indelible imprint on the military history of our country. We offer a final salute to his memory and a lifetime of service to his family, friends and to his country.

To know Cal was to love Cal. I was a waitress in the 1980's at CoCos Restaurant in Federal Way, WA. Right down the street from Worthington Ford.He was always a pleasure to take care of. Every time he was in town he would come for breakfast or lunch and he always asked for my section. I was known as Cal's Gal. It still brings a smile to my face. His presence would fill the room when he walked in. Man he was tall.:) I am only 5'. His smile, sense of humour and kindness was such a part of my life. He was truly a wonderful Man. My prayers go out to his family. May God surround you with his Love and comfort you. He will truly be missed.

He was good for us in a harsh climate without family and friends. We still remember him and whish his famly the best. He can never be replaced. I am proud of him and his accomplishments in life.

Condolences to the Worthington family. I lived in Southern California for one year in the late '70s, and the memory that always brings a smile to me is "Cal Worthington and his dog, Spot" commercials. I am from Texas, where larger-than-life people really are larger-than-life.
