Mr. and Mrs. Blankfort were like a third set of grandparents to me. I started singing for Barbara as a little girl in her childrens' choir at Sacred Heart Church and continued as a cantor through college. Mr. Blankfort often sat in the choir loft with me and we spent many Sunday mornings chatting about school, college applications, and future careers. He was always ready with a hug, a smile, and plenty of encouragement. I have missed them both since moving to Chicago and think of them often. I am saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family; you are in my prayers.
