The first time we met him was in our city Dijon (France) at the yearly Blues Festival. Since this date, he came back several times. You'll miss us Mr Magic Slim, but your music is still alive.
I am so saddened and sorry to hear of the loss of this wonderfully talented bluesman. I enjoyed hearing him many times here in Lincoln, and I know the good Lord God Jehovah has a place in heaven for Magic Slim.

I first heard Slim at Biddy Milligan's on North Sheridan Road in Chicago. I was hooked!! That was 1978. I have had a total connection with his music ever since. Absolutely Glorious!
He was the greatest in my book of blues legends!I will miss seeing his great shows and having a glass of JD with him! Rest in peace!

I had the honor of meeting Magic Slim twice when he performed at Callahan's in Michigan in 2011 and 2012. He was a fabulous performer and a warm and down to earth man. He played "Kansas City" by special request for my fiance and me to dance to, and it is a special memory that I will forever treasure. My condolences to the family of Magic Slim. He will be missed.

7.25 Thursday morning I got a text message that said the big man was dead magic mucus was here no more, it made ??me think of all the good times we had together since we met 12 years ago we had the same maneger flemming asked if I would drive around in Denmark for magic for 3 weeks this is the largest I had experienced fortunately, it was a trip each year, a trip I looked forward to as soon as I had put magic and his band of the airport it we did for 4 years. they got another driver I even got started in my own careers, but it was tradition that they visited me and my wife for a dinner party and then we jammed together we also had time to make a CD together with a Another great blues man omar.chappel hill it's a great memory for me to have.the rest of the day I went round as in a trance, there was so much people who wanted to know about our friendship and what I knew.jeg would rather be alone and think and listen to all your CDs, what you have meant to me and the way I think about music today.thank you big man.r.i.p.jette and nalle.You will be missed

I was my priviledeged to escort Magic Slim last summer when he played the Lowell Summer Music Series. He was a down to earth, humble gentleman. hat showed a deep appreciation for his fans. I am honored to have meet him and spent time with him. I am deeply saddened at his passing the world has lost a truly great man.
One of the truly great, unpretentious bluemen who brought the whole embodiment of electrified Mississippi Delta blues with him whenever he took the stage. A powerhouse entertainer and national treasure gone. Deepest sympathy to his family.

I remember while I worked at the Red Roof Inn in allentown pa he came once and played at a local club but while at the hotel he would visit me often at the front desk and even played a song for me while I checked him out of the hotel ... He was a great guy and will be missed

This is a monumental loss to the blues. I knew Slim well in Chicago, and was around him a lot in the '80s. I worked with him at Florence's, and booked him at the Wise Fools Pub. I knew is brother Nick, his bass player at the time, as well. It was an honor to stand next to the big man on the bandstand. Lefty Dizz and Magic Slim, both born in 1937, had a special kinship, and were good buddies. Now, all three of the most important musicians that I worked with - Lefty, Slim and Valerie Wellington - are all gone, but will never be forgotten. There must be one houserockin' jam session going on in blues heaven right now. My sympathy and condolences go out to the Holt family, his friends and fans, as well as the many who knew and loved Magic Slim around the world. I'm feelin' very blue this morning.

When I heard of the passing of Magic Slim it made me think about the value of the moment, and some of the moments that will never be forgotten. Slim made the world and the world of music a better place. I viewed him as a man of the people and a true giver. He gave so many of us some real magic moments to remember and some real teardrops today. Sincere condolences to the family. May he live on in our hearts and minds.
