Josephine Lukaszewski Obituary

LUKASZEWSKI Josephine Baworonowa Lukaszewski, age 101, of Trumbull, passed away Monday, September 26, 2005, at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Josephine was born in Lopuszka Wielka Village Pszeworsk, Poland, to the late Leon and Victoria (Pydo) Baworonowa. She was the widow of Walter Lukaszewski. Josephine came tot he United States in 1927 and resided in Patterson, N.J. and Brooklyn before moving to Bridgeport in 1955 with her husband. She was a retired seamstress from Warners and Princess Pat. She had a special love for gardening. She was well known for making the best stuffed cabbage and pierogis. Her later years she spent telling everyone she met of her personal relationship with the Lord. She is the last survivor of her ten siblings, Ludwig, Frances, Stephen, Emily, John, Dorota, Stephania, Sophia and Angela. Survivors include three sons, Stephen of Bridgeport, Edward and his wife, Cecelia, of Trumbull, who she resided with and Theodore Lucas and his wife, Andrea, of Madison; four grandchildren, Stephen and wife, Yevonne, Edward and wife, Maryann, Dawn Houle and husband, Jim and Jacqueline Lucas; five great-grandchildren, Stephen Lucas and Joshua Lukaszewski and Matthew, Nicole, and Michael Houle; three nieces, Helen and Leon Zabinski, Dolores and Ted Kalwara and Jane and Bill Kopek; several great-nieces and nephews; and special mention, Barbara Kaladish for being a caregiver to Josephine for the past few years. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday, at 11 a.m. in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport (on the Trumbull line). Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Calling hours on Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home.
