Murphy, Rita M.
Rita M Murphy, age 99, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully June 18, 2014 in her home. Rita was born and resided in Bridgeport until moving to Spring Meadows in Trumbull several years ago. Rita received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Bridgeport and a Master's and Sixth Year Degrees in Education from Fairfield University. She was a kindergarten teacher for the Fairfield School System for many years until her retirement. Rita was a devout Catholic and extremely proud of her Irish heritage. Rita was a world traveler and along with her many hobbies was an avid golfer. She was also a long time volunteer for St. Vincent's Medical Center. Rita was a kind, generous, thoughtful person with a sharp wit. She is survived by her cousins, Marion Tierney and Janet Murphy both of Trumbull and Jack Murphy of Fairfield. Rita will be missed by her "nieces and nephew", Evelyn Feola, Michael Tierney and Carol Schlubach all of Trumbull. Rita was predeceased by her beloved aunt, Mae Murphy. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Spring Meadows for their kindness and care over the years. Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral services on Saturday June 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Directly to St. Stephen's Church 6948 Main St. Trumbull, CT. Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery Stratford, CT. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice Care, Stratford, CT. Arrangements in care of the Cyril F. I had the brief pleasure of meeting Rita at St. V's recently when my mom was her "roommate". It appeared she was suffering but reamined vital. My deepest sympathies on your loss.
