William B. Stuart
William B. Stuart ("Bill"), 70, of Fairfield, CT, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017. He was born in Troy, NY on November 19, 1946, son of the late William Peter Septic and Rose Mary Turchin, brother of the late June Merkel.
Prior to his death, Bill was the Director of Sales at Summit Business Media, where he consistently far exceeded sales goals and nurtured a hardworking team. Bill held a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Siena College and an MBA in Finance from Farleigh Dickinson University. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Alcohol and Drug Dependency Council of Fairfield County.
He was a passionate tidal fisherman, avid kayaker, tennis player and travel enthusiast. His unprecedented commitment to helping others achieve sobriety is a profound accomplishment. He is remembered for his strength in character, deep insight, compassion for others and great sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving wife Madeleine; son William; step-son Ted; step-daughter Caroline and his nephews Todd J. Merkel and Scott W. Merkel, his wife Sheri L. Hoffman and their son Gregory S. Merkel.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017, at St. Pius X Church at 834 Brookside Drive in Fairfield, CT, with a reception to follow. All are welcome. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, a college fund has been set up for William H. Stuart, Bill's son. Donations can be mailed to; c/o Stefano Fava, Merrill Lynch, One Bryant Park 28th Floor, New York, NY 10036. The family welcomes any and all words and stories about Bill, which can be sent to [email protected]
