How I treasured those times when the Hester/Mullanix/Shrum clan got together on holidays. Even as a small child, on those special occasions, I gravitated to the room where Billye was because she really was the spark, indeed, the life of the party. Not only that, but Billye was so knowledgeable on many subjects and a good storyteller to boot. There was always much laughter in the group of adults and children sitting at the table where Billye was during those wonderful family reunions. She was a strong woman and proud of her heritage and I appreciate so much the genealogy work she did for the Shrum/Hahn ancestry. That was our last correspondence some years ago when I asked her for some information on Teresa Shrum's family story. Billye was more than ready to fire off a letter to me with the information I requested. I loved Billye and though our visits got fewer and farther between in the past few decades, I will never forget the gifts she gave us all, just by being the one, the only, Billye. My condolences to Billye's boys and all her grandchildren and greats whom Billye was so very proud of and loved dearly .
