Marilyn Melea Seefeld, 61, of Columbus, a "walking miracle" having survived two previous battles with cancer, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at her home in Columbus.
A memorial service will be Saturday, May 20, 11 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Cory Burma officiating. There will be a private family interment in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 - 8 p.m., at the Gass Haney Funeral Home, in Columbus.
Marilyn was born March 16, 1956, in Grand Island, to Wanda and Leland Cantrell.
She graduated from Anselmo-Merna High School in 1974, where she excelled at volleyball and was a state track champion. Then attending Lincoln School of Commerce, she earned a degree as a medical secretary.
June 26,1976, she wed Roger Seefeld in Broken Bow. They moved to Columbus, in 1976 where Marilyn lived the rest of her life.
Marilyn had a heart for serving others and invested much of her time loving and caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, or anyone she thought might be lonely.
She loved traveling, quilting and sharing a laugh with friends and strangers alike. She gave a listening ear to anyone who had a voice and was a mom to everyone.
Memorials to benefit cancer patients at the Columbus Hematology and Oncology Clinic. Please make checks to Hematology and Oncology Consultants with a memo "Marilyn Seefeld fund" and deliver to 2723 Timber Edge Dr., Columbus, NE 68601.
Marilyn is survived in death by her husband, Roger Seefeld of Columbus; son, Chad (Kyra) Seefeld of Omaha; daughter, Melinda (Gregory) Hellbusch, of Smithville, Mo.; grandsons, Jace and Ryder Hellbusch of Smithville, Mo.; granddaughters, Madison, Emmie, and Sofie Seefeld, of Omaha; brother, Donald (Deb) Cantrell of Merna; sister, Rosemary (Russ) Arnold of Broken Bow; and brother, Dale Cantrell of Wenatchee, Wash.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her father, Leland Cantrell of Merna; and mother, Wanda Cantrell of Merna.
