Dorothy Jean Walker, 85, of Odessa, Texas, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Parks Methodist Assisted Living in Odessa, Texas. She was born March 12, 1927 in York, Neb. to Gerald and Florence Finney. She was the oldest of ten children.
Dorothy and her husband, Bill, were longtime residents of Farmington. She relocated to Odessa, Texas in 2008 where she lived the remainder of her life to be closer to her family.
Dorothy had numerous hobbies, she enjoyed gardening, reading, playing bingo, feeding and watching the birds, needlework projects, cooking and caring for her grandbabies and several other children.
She worked as a bus driver for the Farmington School System delivering kindergarten children for several years. This gave her many fond memories.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Florence Finney; her husband, Bill; her granddaughter, Cynthia Diane; her son-in-laws, Gene Thornton and J. Michael Kight; her sister, Barbara Edleman and brothers, Don, Paul and Roger Finney.
She is survived by her daughters, Janet Thornton, Deanna Harris and husband, Randy, Lisa Walker and her son, Bill Walker. Dorothy also leaves behind six grandchildren, Kim Fotis, Amy Hooks and husband, Kevin, Kristin Kight and Jason Hurst, Joe and wife, Sara Walker, Katie Walker, Kyle Walker and 11 great grandchildren, in addition her sisters, Geraldine Michelson, Kathy Ogle and brothers, Tom, Frank and Pat Finney along with numerous nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
Visitation for Dorothy will be 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Chapel.
A rosary will be recited for Dorothy, 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
A mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2100 E. 20th Street in Farmington.
Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
