He was a treasure for all the fighting forces across the globe. It was a blessing he could walk with us for a while. Valhalla has a place set for Norman. Salute sir.
God Speed Sir - a job well done.
My military service was at a earlier date 1960/62.Just seeing you on TV made me proud. We could sure use leaders like you today. May you be blessed now for all you did when you served our Nation.
Thank you Sir for all you did for us during the Gulf War. May GOD take you into HIS loving arms and give you peace. May HE give peace to your loved ones. Like you would tell us, keep on marching smartly.
During Desert Storm I was working the port and Class V operations at al Jubayl when General Schwarzkopf came to visit. I have never seen such appreciation and admiration for a commander. And of all the officers I have known, none was as much admired as General Schwarzkopf. His place in history, and in our hearts, is assured.
Storming Norman, we really need you for our country, now !!!!!!!!!!!!
I was a soldier during the Gulf War in the "Sand Box" supporting the 2ACR as a communication specialist team Leader. I never felt more confident when I knew the Bear was in charge I could feel eminent victory which embolden me to be the best at what I did. Thanks Gen. Schwarzkopp. Now I am more confident of the following words: He will render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, nor will they learn war anymore. (Isaiah 2:4). This was a very brave person who loved life and loved us all by multiple selfless acts during a rich lifetime helping others. Coming in the near future many will reap the rewards of a peaceful new world God has promised. 2 Peter 3:13.
I was an MP NCO stationed in Mainz FRG in 1980. He was the community commander. I got to speak with him on several occasions. One day he asked me if there was anything he could do for us MP's. I told him we were only issued 1 magazine for our pistols. On Monday when we arrived at the PMO we were issued 3 magazines. I also served as one of his body guards when the Pope was at Finthen Army Air Field in 1980. He was a Great General and I would have followed Him to the gates of hell.
I will miss my commander may the lord bless and may our general take a seat and take command of the forces MANY BLESSINGS AND GREETINGS FROM US ALL OF
thanks general for all that you have done for this great nation and may you rest now good and faithful servant.
Thank you gen. God bless.
My respect for your service.
Thomas R. Bostic, USN, Retired, Vietnam Vet
know God will Bless You Sir, I Hope will Bless your Familia with Many Fond memories.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
A Great Leader. I served under his Command during the Gulf War. Keep them all in line at the BIG HOUSE SIR!!!
My grandson graduated from West Point in 2006 and I was so proud to learn that Gen. Schwarzkopf would be there that week and so very proud when he presented the lt. bars and shook his hand. My grandson then ran up to the stands where we sat and said " Here Granny, this is the hand that just shook with the Pres. and the Gen. Schwarzkopf." He knew that I loved and admired the Gen. after reading his book. He had more stars in his crown than he wore on his shoulder. I am sure he is finding his well deserved peace in Heaven.
Rest In peace, General. Thank You For Your Service To Our Country. See You On The Other Side Some Beautiful Day.
He was a legend and a man who could bring out the best in a soldier
"Old soldiers never die. They only fade away". Godspeed as Heaven gains a great General. My prayers go out to his family and friends.
Dear General, you've been my role model since I read your autobiography "It Doesn't Take a Hero". Duty, Honor, Country, Competence, Character, Care & Respect for others became my fixed stars as well. Thank you Sir and rest in peace! May God bless you and your family!!!
Sorry for the loss of your love one.
God give us a wonderful hope.
I am just an American citizen. I didn't serve with the General or anything, but when I heard of his death, I felt the country had lost one of the Best. My heart was broken. He was atrue patriot. My heart is still heavy over his loss and I send my sympathy to the family. The only thing I can say is, it is our great loss, but God's gain at having such a man as Gen. Schwarzkopf to be a part of His kindgom. I know God was happy to Welcome Such a Fine Man. I am heartbroken, but you must be moreso, just know that he truly is in the presence of the Lord. My sympathies to all of the family. Just know, you will be with him again.
god came and wrap his arms around him and took him home to rest in peace sorry too hear may god bless you all
He once said to me; "Treat everyone like a 4-star General regardless of Rank." He had a way of making everyone feel special. It was a great honor to have served him during and after the Gulf War. A true Hero!
It ws an honor too have served under him.
May he rest in peace.
Love and prayers go out to the family of this much loved and admired patriot. The world was a much better place because of men such as the General. May God comfort the family as only He can.
The United States has lost a great advocate, a great friend, and a great man. We were all was very sad to learn of his death. This special man will always be remembered by the family of my father who has since passed away, James W. Hicks. To us, "Stormin Norman" was a Gentle Bear who was very well loved. We are so appreciative of his efforts and very grateful to him for his service. May God Bless him in Heaven and reward him for all of his efforts to bring peace to a horrendous world. From our family Bea Hicks and the girls; God Bless you Brenda and your family, we wish for God to be at your side. May your future be bright and happy and know that he is in a wonderful loving environment and well taken care of, in Christ's hands. May God Bless your Entire Family and their future.
My heart is broken. Our General, and the greatest hero of our time has passed, never to be replaced. I'm a calligrapher & during the end of the Gulf War I lettered the General's favorite song "I'm Proud to be an American", framed it and sent it to him. He responded within three days & said he would find a prominent place in his home for it. Everytime I hear this song I will always think of the General. It is who he was. My sincere condolences to his wife, children and the rest of his family. He will never be forgotten. God Bless.
Our prayers are with you and your children during this difficult time. Norm was a great boss and mentor but an even better friend. I will always remember our fishing hunting and skiing adventures in Alaska and Virginia. You always knew where you stood with your husband and what he was going to love or hate. If it was good for the troops he was always on board.
We will miss him.
Tom and Lucy Fields

Thanks you so much for all your hard work in protecting this country.May God bless t his family.
I made the honest mistake of calling him "The Bear" when introduced to him during Desert Shield. He just laughed and asked "So what do they call you?" He was very fond of the enlisted ranks and took every effort to visit and encourage them.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.

THANK YOU MR. VETERAN
Thank you Mr. Veteran.
We salute you—
Who've fought for our freedoms
To go, and come and do.
Our children and grandchildren
Can have a future too:
A better chance at life—
To make their dreams come true.
Thank you for your sacrifice
In times of war and peace.
And for the miles trekked—
O'er land and the seas.
Thank you for your time away
From family and friend;
And for all the leisure
That could have been.
I have often wondered
What would make you go—
Lay it all on the line
For those whom you least know.
Although, I must admit—
I have yet to understand,
I know that it was for
The good of the land.
And to your fellow comrades—
Veterans like you—
Would you pass the word
That I 'thank' them too.
Tell them that their sacrifice,
As long as we shall live,
Will be the noble gift
That continues to give.

To a great leader will be missed. We are so sorry!
I met the General while I was stationed in Alaska and at Fort Lewis WA., he was only a colonel then. I later ran into him again during other excursions. I was highly impressed with the General, he never forgot your name, even if he hadn't seen you for a few years.
I also remembered something he once said about fellow soldier who had died; "Old Soldiers never die, they just report to the ultimate Commander in the heavans high".
Rest in peace dear General; you will be missed.
Thank- you for all your service to our country; we are grateful. May God bless your family,& guide thnem in the days ahead.
Schwarzkopf Family, you, our country, and humanity have lost a good man who shall long be remembered. Without knowing him personally, I admired him as a no nonsense soldier, having read of his minefield rescue of a young soldier in Viet Nam, and having seen him in his daily news briefings regarding Desert Storm. It was impressive and refreshing to see him "remind" the media that he was telling them what they needed to know, and nothing more. I wish I could have met him. My sympathy to all of you in your loss. May God grant you comfort and solace. A veteran
Thank you for your wonderful honest service to our Country. God bless!!!
To the Schwarzkopf Family: The General was an outstanding man. If he was allowed to utilize his "military instincts" in Iraq, America would never had to go back there. He had a brilliant military mind and he was a true hero. It's now time for him to rest, so may God surround you with strength at this very sorrowful time. Just one of his millions of admirers
You will be greatly missed. It waa an Honor to Trap for you and meet you wife Brendan and your daugther Jessie. Unfortuantly Time did not permit me to to meet with Cynthis or Christian. We always talked about families and how they put up with us.
Say hello John Wayne for me. You will always be remembered as a friend, wise teach, and a all around great person and friend. What a honor to be called your friend.
Stormin Norman you won't be forgotten! God speed General!
It was a pleasure and honor to have met and fly you while in S. A. Sir while with the 101st. I'll always smile rembering as you climbed on board the aircraft, if I knew how to start this thing up. When I said I just read the directions last night, your laughter put the crew right at ease. I thank you for your concern for all serving there and your patriotism General as I now pray for the comfort of your family. CW4 (Ret) Bill Condon, US Army.
He was the speaker at my niece's graduation from the University of Richmond in 1999. He was the first and last graduation speaker I've ever heard that held my interest, and I was sorry when his speech was over. I admired him greatly. My sympathies to his family.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
No words could fully convey the respect, gratitude and loss that we all feel. Those who have had the privledge to serve with you simply stand and raise their hand in salute and say, "thank you Sir"
Gen.Schwarzkopf,Sir,I salute you,for your unselfish service to our country, and may you rest in peace. Louis Fix,U.S.Army Security Agency---1966 to 1969
I vividly remember the call from then Mayor Dick Greco asking me if I would like to meet and shoot sporting clays with General Norman Schwarzkopf. In our teens, Dick and I shot skeet competitively all over the country and won a number of events. While I continued to be a avid bird hunter, I had not shot clays in years, and never sporting clays, but I jumped at the opportunity. We met at the gun club and the General insisted that I shot his prize Beretta, a gift to him from Beretta after Dessert Storm. The gun was worth over 50 times more than any gun I had ever owned up until that time. Dick had told the General that I was an excellant shot, but I was so nervous I missed the first 5 targets.
From that beginning developed a tremendous relationship. Practically every Saturday we would shoot together. He was fun to be with and a great competitor. He hated to lose, and I consider that a virtue. I worked with him an participated in The Schwarzkopf Cup which raised millions for those with spinal injuries. When the property where the gun club was located was sold, Norm and I joined a group that purchased the property were Tampa Bay Sporting Clays is located and where he has chaired every year charity shoots that have raised millions for The Children's Home.
He is an outstanding individual and admired friend who will be missed. God bless his family.
It was an honor to have served under your command in Desert Storm, and an honor to shake your hand on Christmas Day, 1990, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Rest in peace, Bear.
Gone too soon. Rest in peace.

Some people in life will always be remembered. I always admired your strong hold you had as being a Commander in Chief. Yes, God does have a purpose for all of us to fill and you served it well with dignity.

To a great leader who will be greatly missed. R.I.P. General
A true Warrior, who stood on the field of battle with many of us.
He was my commanding General when I served with Combat Support Company of the 2nd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Fort Stewart, GA. He was a great leader. He told us what he wanted from us; he believed we could get it done. He expected us to do it. He did not mix words, You knew he meant what he said and he said what he meant. But the General was also down to earth; a real person. There was nothing pretentious or arrogant about him. I respected and admired him. "Gimlets are fanatics Sir!" You'll be missed. Sergeant Gerald Phipps, U.S. Army Infantry - The 24th Infantry Sir!

The General was a true leader of men. He lead by example and set out to always win. He would have made a great Secratary of Defense if he were called upon to do so. He always told it like it was never holding the truth back. He had the respect of every man the served under him. We should look upon his life as a true testament of a true American. Men of his nature are few these days and we shall never forget him.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Gen. H. Norman Scharzkopf our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Gen. Scharzkopf. And to Gen. Scharzkopf it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during the Vietnam war and Operation Desert Storm while serving in the U.S. Army. Gen. Scharzkopf, you are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Gen. Scharzkopf's family and loved ones.

Rest in peace Norman . You are in the Lords army now !!
I pray these words God gave me will comfort you. MESSAGE FROM NORMAN - I know your hearts are heavy and you miss having me there but I'm with God in heaven where no one has a care. I just shook hands with Moses, I met Job and Daniel too. Now I am enjoying a body that's brand new. It really was amazing when I walked through the gate I saw the beauty of this place and I could hardly wait. To come into the presence of the Father and the Son; hearing him say to me the priceless words WELL DONE! Jesus took me by the hand and said I'm so glad you're here. Come sit beside me for a while and let me hold you near. Then he took me down the streets & running to meet me were precious friends and loved ones I had longed to see. People I didn't know came up to me and said, because you gave of yourself God saw that I was fed. The Lord has given every soul a special job to do. My job friends and family is watching over you. Soon we will be together never more to part. Until then just remember I'm as close as your heart.

I found a poem by Jilchristy Dee ""You risked your life for others
Each and every day
Understanding and accepting the potential cost
That someday you might pay
For such is the path of a Hero
A terrain where only the brave would choose to go
For 'tis like a mountain pass, narrow and rugged
Far removed from the peaceful vally down below
Yet you walked that difficult path daily
Seeing harsh things, while doing such good
And we loved and respected your courage
More than you understood
And you were a blessing to countless people
Through your selfless and courageous deeds ..."
"Your efforts will impact generations
Through lives saved, and all the good you did
Truly...you were OUR HERO
And we all thank God that you lived!"

A Veterans Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father up above
We ask you fill our hearts with love
We give ourselves to defend our land
Across the seas in blood drenched sand
The battle rages everyday
We ask You guide us along our way
Our brothers and sisters who don't come home
May they rest in Peace and never be alone
We count the days as the end draws near
Trying to stay strong and show no fear
Our families wait with arms stretched wide
For the day we are together side by side
So as the tears fall down our face
We ask you Lord please keep us safe.

RIP General. Thank you for your service to this great country and it's Army...
I very briefly met the General during the Gulf War in 1991. He was a true leader and we all looked up to him. He was a true "hero".
He was admired by those soldiers he led valiantly and will be admired as plain spoken down to earth. My sympathy to his family and wishes for them to hold on to those good memories shared as a family.
A great man for his time. Thanks
I Sincerely Offer My Condolence: Norman's death has no doubt cast a shadow over you as you go about your daily life because death brings us face-to-face with the fact that he is gone too soon. His presence will be dearly missed. So despite the pain of grief, let it be your solve to continue to work your way through pain and grief. The rich life that he led has left many memories. Sometimes we may feel paralyzed by a tragedy such as this. Remember: God can help you to endure any and every problem they may face. He will give you the "power beyond what is normal" to go from one day to the next. (2Corinthians 4:7)
My deepest regrets and greatest respect.
I wish I had had the honor of knowing him.
Amen to a great leader and

Thank You for your dedicated service to the United States of America. God Bless You.
America has lost a true Hero. We will never forget you.
In my book you matched all the great military leaders, Grant, Lee, Pershing, Ike, and Mac.
Thank you for your service and commitment to our country. God Bless you.
I served with GEN Schwarzkopf when he was our Commander of the 24th INF DIV (MECH) at Ft. Stewart, GA in 1985-86. He was our guest speaker at my Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC). He was speaking on the NCO Creed. When he got to the part about NCO's being the backbone of the Army, he replied, "My NCO's are not the backbone of the Army," (the auditorium fell deafly quiet) he continued, "MY NCO's are the Blood, Guts and Muscle of the MY Army and they will lead our Soldiers and carve "V's" (for the Victory Division) in the foreheads of our enemies!"..The place went nuts. I'll never forget the General and the impact that he had on me. He will be missed and should go down as a true American hero. When I shook his hand, I remember the size of his hands... he was a man's man.. a Leader that commanded respect. Thank you for your contribution to our Country.
Very respectfully submitted,
SSG Kirt Runyan (R), Durand, MI
R.I.P. Gen. Schwarzkopf. We all love you here. Wayne & Kitty Rogers

Now all of the men in heaven have another story to listen to with the General joining them. My father was a great fan of yours; say hi to him in heaven.
You could have heard a pin drop in an auditorium in Dallas TX during a NADA conference where thousands of business professionals awaited General Norman Schwarzkopf answer to the big question;
“To what do you attribute your outstanding success as a Leader in Desert Storm”? Stormin Norman was quick to clarify the success was not his, but our country's, & he restated the question as to what he considered his “most valued resource” to his success & his answer was…..”PEOPLE”!
What a simple, selfless, but profound statement from the General that stood at attention before us, honoring his troops, respecting man-kind & heralding our country.
A 42 year wife of a Disabled Viet Nam American Vet!

From this civilian's point of view, General Schwarzkopf was a General among generals who set the standard of who and what a general of an American military force should be. He was well respected amongst his peers and charges alike, and so very much admired and loved by the American people. I wish you Godspeed, General Schwarzkopf sir, as you venture forth to serve under the ultimate Commander-in-Chief. Thank you from a grateful citizen.

A nation mourns the loss of a great man and leader. I had the priviledge and honor to serve under General Schwarzkopf in J6 during DESERT SHIELD/STORM. Firm but fair, he always put the troops first. Before the days of email and Skype, his leadership to field the Phone Home program became the biggest morale booster of the war for the troops. I owe much to that experience and to the leadership of General H. Norman Schwarzkopf. We could use leadership and men of his caliber now. My deepest sympathy to the family and a final salute to General Schwarzkopf. RIP. Godspeed.
General, I had the honor to serve while you were at the helm. An ABSOLUTE job WELL DONE, Sir. I stand and salute you! May you rest in peace and may your family's hearts be lightened by knowing how well you are loved.Hasn't been a great one like you since.

Farewell to a fellow Brother in Arms
A great American! Thank you. Rest in peace.
We mourn the loss of one of the greatest military leaders since Omar Bradley, Nimitz, and Halsey - The man is more than deserving of a fifth star
The General, at the Dedication of the New Jersey Vietnam Memorial, stated:
"I make No Apologies for what We Did in Vietnam!"
Several thousand Vietnam veterans cheered the loudest I've ever heard.
Old Soldiers Never Die,
They Just Fade Away.
Rest In Peace, General
Thank you General for being A Great Patriot! I lost my brother Patrick in the Vietnam War and you helped my griefing of telling your story and how important it was that we has Americans welcome our Vietnam Soldiers back and give tribute and thanks to them all especially the ones that gave up their lives for us so we as Americans could continue to live free.
My sympathy goes out to your family and a big Thank You to them sacrificing without you while you were serving our Country. God now has one of the Best Generals that served our country.
Sean C. Byrne
I still remember him as my Cadet Comander in Valley Forge during my first year in 1956
I read his book and was enlightened by his charisma and caringness for his troops. We should have generals like him guide our country now. Great stamina, outspoken and truthful to his troops. RIP

Old Soldiers never die, they just fade away.
An inspiring leader who lead by example, were the soldier felt his presence during his physical absence. His presence will always be felt by veterans and their families. Old soldiers never die, we just fade away. Our general will always be there, present in the annals of history. May his family feel our love and support.
1934-2012, We will miss you General! I had the pleasure of serving under General Schwarzkopf twice during my career. Once in the 24th Inf Div where he was Div Commander (Grenada & Panama actions) and the other in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait Desert Storm and Shield). I remember briefing him on the readiness for war status of my company. He was a GREAT General and didn't beat around the issues nor except nonsense. He didn't allow anyone else under him do that either. If it was broke FIX IT and do it in a hurry. He would come back to check too! It was either good or bad there was NO excuses for NOT doing what you should do. Years later at the Baharan Airport in Saudi Arabia we met again in the concourse....he noticed me standing on the side of the hall way and came up to me with his entourage, shook my hand, and said it was good to see me again. I don't think he actually remembered me personally but he said that...I think it was the patch that I wore once again of the 24th that he noticed. He was certainly loved in the 24th INF Div (mech). GODSPEED GENERAL!
We lost another great man today. We need more men lik this man! To you and yoir family thank you for your sevice!
An American giant, and a hero, prayers and condolences to his family

My hearthfelt condolences go out to the family. What a great leader he was and the epitome of what one would think generals are made of. I still have a pair of the boots said to be designed by the general. I wore them a couple of times and then I just stored them away. I look at those and it reminds me of the times that we fought with a purpose and we knew what the end game was. Today, I am not so sure. Rest in peace General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, you will always be remembered.
Rest in Peace, a great leader. Thank you for your service to our country.

General & may God comfort & protect
your loving family.
I worked with HNS when he was a brigade cdr. at Ft. Lewis WA, after I returned from the DMZ. His temper is often mentioned (I saw it in person) but he was also very funny and he really did care about the troops. In his book he tells how he told the troops he'd made general...that version was sanitized for civilian consumption - I was there and what really happened was a lot more fun!!
I will never forget you THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE may you rest in peace...
THANK YOU FOR BEING A HERO AND A GREAT AMERICAN I LOOK UP TOO!

To this day, she is 32 years old, she remembers the gentleman and soldier who took the time to speak to her and of her grandfather Allen E Capps who served 25 years in the Army. He touched many lives. Thank you Sir.
And the loss of another of America's true heroes, in the same caliber as Major Dick Winters of WW II. He was one of the men I admired most other than my own father.

My deepest sympathy to the Schwarzkopf family. "Stormin' Norman" was a General of Generals and I personally appreciate his leadership. The backbone he had was made of steel, unlike some of the rubber backbones we have in Washington D.C. They sure could have used a lesson or two from the General. I was Gen Schwarzkopf's personal briefing officer for two years, including 10 months as his Air ops briefer in the Desert Storm war room. He was the finest officer I ever worked for. He expected you to have done your homework and not waste his time. He was honest to a fault, brilliant, devoted, and had a heart as big as he was. I can't believe he's gone. The nation has lost a remarkably gifted and dedicated leader of the old school...the kind who put service above self at ever critical juncture. Please publish the details of his burial. Many, many of us will be there. May God bless Brenda and his children.
You and my father looked a lot alike. I came to your first book signing. I lived in Tampa at the time. When your father was a diplomat and you were a teen or pre-teen, you went overseas on the ship Pvt. Elden H. Johnson. When my father got transferred to Spain, we went on the same ship. We boarded 12/24/1956. I have always had the greatest respect for you. Your family is in my prayers.
