Amy Dawn Cahoon, 43, of Gilbert, Ariz., and a former Farmington resident, passed away peacefully early Thursday, July 18, 2013 in Gilbert, Ariz.
Amy died due to complications of multiple sclerosis, which she endured for many years.
Amy was born July 17, 1970, in Mission Hills, Calif., to Steven Leo Cahoon of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jeanne Lumpkins Cahoon of Farmington.
She graduated from Farmington High School in 1988, where she was actively involved with the Kelly Greens Dance Team. Dancing and singing were her passions.
After graduation, Amy was employed as a nanny in White Plains, N.Y. She then moved to Mesa, Ariz., to live with her sister Cami. From there, Amy lived in Salt Lake City with her cousin Kelli Ogden and family.
She later settled in Arizona, where she lived in a residential home with a caregiver until her death.
Charlene Hawksley was her caregiver for many years, as well as Yolee Guerrero and Betty Grant. Amy was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Amy leaves behind her parents, Steve and Jeanne Cahoon; son Peyton Richard Williams of Tucson, Ariz.; brothers Cary Cahoon and wife, Susan, Darin Cahoon and wife, Allison, and Scott Cahoon, all of Farmington; sister Cami Fabiano of Gilbert, Ariz., and maternal grandmother, Jean Robinson Lumpkins of Farmington.
Amy is also survived by nephews Kyle, Tyler, Trevor, Austin, Cade, Brody and Canton Cahoon and Alex and Collin Fabiano, as well as niece Camille Fabiano and aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins who all loved her dearly.
She especially adored her special needs brother, Scott, and had a special bond with him.
Amy was welcomed into heaven by her grandparents, Louie C. Lumpkins, Leo Cahoon and Ruth Cahoon and aunt Chris Cook.
She leaves family and friends in awe of her amazingly positive attitude she exhibited throughout her life and her genuine love and concern for others.
Enduring multiple sclerosis for 20 years of her adult life, she never complained of her progressive and debilitating disease and always greeted others with a smile and stated "I am just fine."
She was indeed a valiant and Christ-like young woman. We will deeply miss her sweet spirit but will continue to feel of her presence. We love you Amy!

Amy was such a sweetheart to everyone she came in contact with. I remember in Jr. High we would go to the mall to shop and go out to eat. We thought we were so grown up! Many fond memories of her. She will not be forgotten and dearly missed. Prayers for her family.
