Zach Sobiech

Obituary

LAKELAND, Minn. (AP) - A Minnesota teenager whose song "Clouds" became an Internet sensation has died after battling a rare form of bone cancer.

Zach Sobiech (SOH'-bee-ak) of Lakeland died Monday at his home, according to a CaringBridge post by his mother. He was 18.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports his family thanked people who "listened with their hearts" and helped Sobiech "bring his message and his music to the world."

Sobiech began writing songs of farewell to family and friends last fall. His first song, "Clouds," has received almost 3 million YouTube hits.

The catchy tune inspired tributes and covers, including a celebrity video.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of St. Michael in Stillwater.

I took two weeks to read - Fly a Little Higher - I cried through most of it. As I finished reading and still crying, my radio station played Top 40 songs for this week - Amazing Grace - came on. It was so comforting to me. I feel Zach sent me that song.

He was amazing

You are such an inspiration to not waste the true blessing of life that we are given.

God gives the biggest share of His cross to His BEST friends!

Your life was such an inspiration to so many including me. I was as a disabled elderly lady just existing and not really living figuring my " life" was in the past. Because of Zack I got a wake up call. I mean I have lived to be almost 64 years old. How dare I throw these years away when Zach and so many other young people didn't get the chance to really find out what life is truly all about. Zach thank you for being an inspiration to young and old alike. You were wise beyond...

Just saw the movie on Disney plus. What a true inspiration on how to move on with life either you know you’re dying or not. In the end we are all dying. But this just shows so much inspiration to keep on going and continue on trying to achieve your dreams, and to stay positive in the negative and keep your eyes forward until the end. Zach is in a wonderful place. And is in no longer in no more pain or suffering. I know it’s been probably about 6 years ago of when he past away but I am still...

You where the one that changed how i see the world today so thank you for being you .
