Horace Wright Bell
MAPLE - Horace Wright Bell, Jr. 87 of 186 Maple Road, Maple, NC died Monday, February 12, 2018 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. He was born August 26, 1930 in Pasquotank County to the late Horace Wright Bell, Sr. and Janie Elizabeth Whaley Bell and was the widower of Joyce Marie Snowden Bell. He was a Staff Sergeant in the N.C. National Guard, retired from Ford Motor Co., Norfolk Assembly Plant as a final inspector, and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Charlene Cuthrell and husband Jay of Elizabeth City, NC and Sandra Hewitt and husband Billy of Jarvisburg, NC; two sons, Horace W. Bell, III and wife Suzette of Currituck, NC and Warren Snowden Bell and wife Michelle of Southern Shores, NC; a brother, Robert M. Bell and wife Dot of Swansboro, NC; eight grandchildren, Alyssa Leary and husband Troy, Jessica Gallop and husband Brad, Allison Cuthrell Meads and husband Ryan, Ashley Bell, Tiffany White, Eric White and wife Hannah, Lindsay Hewitt, and Elizabeth Hewitt; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. He was predeceased by three sisters, Miriam Bell Ange, Betty Jean Bell, and Jane Elizabeth Bell.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Snowden Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home lobby immediately following the service and at other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to Rehoboth Baptist Church, PO Box 56, Maple, NC 27956. Twiford Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is serving the Bell family.
