I believe gramma gave to me the travel bug as well as my knack for language among many wonderful gifts. Strong, generous, and fiercely independent, I couldn't have had a better gramma.

What an inspiring life Ione led. She and Vern were neighbors on 7th Avenue in Inglewood as I was growing up. She and my mom, Ruth Jones, were traveling buddies for many years (my mom died in 2000 at 98). Ione's Earthwatch trips were legendary and made for many wonderful stories. What a full life she led! My last meeting with her was at her 100th birthday party and a visit with her at her home in Torrance afterwards. I have attached a picture of her then. Linda Brooks, now Washington DC

You were so full of life, energy, and grace.
You added a brightness to my life.
Thank goodness we got to meet.
Rest well.
I shall think of you.
I shall miss you.
Yours was a life well lived.
Your Cousin,
Carolyn in Washougal, Washington

What a great life! Señora Rice was my Spanish teacher at Inglewood High School (1968-72). Because of her and Señora Zee, I became a Spanish teacher.

Mrs. Rice (Senora Rice) was my Spanish teacher in my freshman year at Inglewood High (1970-71). I remember coming to school the day of the 1971 earthquake (Feb. 9, 1971) and learning the word for earthquake in Spanish...terremoto.
