I have many fond memories as a child growing up across the street from Mr. and Mrs. Pereira. Many children would often play tag or stickball in the street on summer days just a few steps from their front door. They were both very polite and elegant neighbors. They were well respected by all. In a small neighborhood with our homes very close together, all neighbors seemed like family, no matter their origin or language. I will never forget hearing their familier greetings with the colorful accents. I loved to hear them speak. I now live out in Central Texas with my family. It seems like yesterday that I was just a kid on the block but Marbella Avenue will always be home. They were certainly most wonderful neighbors and a memorable part of my childhood days. Many neighbors and kids are grown or moved away but we still miss Mr. and Mrs. Pereira. To the all in the Pereira family, we send our love and prayers.
