Ilse,
I was away last fall and missed this announcement, but received a packet of memories from you yesterday via Caroline Gould.
I will cherish our hikes together, our pizza parties at your Douglas Home, and our potlucks at the Fireweed. Also Helmuts fossils. You are missed and alive in our memories.

Even a stroke didn't stop her! She kept on walking, just a little slower and somewhat awkwardly. Always cheerful and positive, and an inspiration for when folks my age get older.

The God of comfort is near to those that are broken at heart, and promises us that he will undo all the effects of death, and remove death itself.

I met Ilse through my mother-in-law when she lived on first street in Douglas. I enjoyed Ilse's sense of humour and the twinkle she got when she thought she could surprise you. I also appreciated how loving she was to our son, who would run down the balcony to see her whenever he was able to ditch us, just to talk or for pizza. She will be missed. G. Misha Plotnick

Ilse and I went on a group hike in the Kluane area of the Yukon Territory. 3 women decided to travel light and sleep in two zipped together sleeping bags rather than carrying one apiece. Luckily, neither Ilse nor I had to sleep in the middle!

I had the pleasure of working with Ilse and getting to know her at ADF&G. She was an excellent worker and a real asset to the department. Her sense of humor brightened the days. I enjoyed working with her as much as anyone I've worked with. She will be missed. Rest in peace, my friend.

Ilse, was like a second Grandmother to me and I never thought of her any differently. I will miss all those lunch-time gatherings of eatting Bullwinkles Pizza and the big tins of German cookies that she used to get from her family during the holidays. She was an inspiration to me and my family and I will truly miss her.

I will always miss you Ilse. Thank you for being a wonderful member of our family for over 40 years and all the fond memories of dinners and holidays. You are back with the love of your life walking the Douglas highway. I love you! Give my mom a hug for me!

I spent Fridays with Ilse. We would have lunch at the Hanger. People would always stop her to say "Hello". She was amazed at how many people knew her by name. She has been a friend for many years, I'm not sure what to do with my Fridays now. Miss you Ilse

I worked with Ilse at Fish and Game in the early 80's. She was a lovely woman with a positive and practical outlook on life. It was a pleasure to have known her. I will miss you my dear friend. Rest in peace.
