Justin M. Miller
1977 - 2013
Born in Torrance, California. Justin is survived by his wife, Jessica, sons, Joey and Johnnie, parents, Joe and Mona, and brother, Corey and his wife, Leah. In addition, Justin is survived by a large family that includes grandmother, Kathy, nephew Tristan, nieces, Kristina and Gianna, and in-laws, George and Elizabeth Colocho as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Although he resided in Florida, he always called Torrance his home. He played in Torrance Little League, and was part of the Little League World Series in 1992. He graduated from Torrance High School in 1995, earning the Daily Breeze Player of the Year. He then attended Harbor College earning All American Honor and was drafted by the Colorado Rockies. Throughout his amazing16 year career, he played with several MLB teams including the Blue Jays, Marlins, Giants, and most recently the Los Angeles Dodgers. Justin always loved and respected the game of baseball. Win or lose, he always wore a big smile, and made sure that everyone was having fun. He lived his life to the fullest, never letting anything bring his spirits down. Justin will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. We are all so lucky to have had him in our lives. The last time I saw justin was in Boston. I went to see the dodger vs Boston, showed up early and got to talk to him before game time. He actually thought I moved there from Torrance, I just laughed and told him "I'm here to see you guys play, the dodgers." I recorded justin warming up in the bullpen, but he never made onto the field that day. Rest in peace.

I share in the sadness and pain of my son in law Corey, and his parent's Mona and Joe's loss. I pray for Jessica and the boys. The Miller family lost a wonderful son, brother, father and friend to many. I remember meeting Justin on the 4th of July 2 years ago and what a cheerful freindly person he was. He had an infectious personality. He had a smile the whole time we talked. He autographed a baseball for my son Ryan who was proud to have met a major league player. I am deeply saddened that a young man with so much to live for was taken so soon. I am hurt for the pain that the family has been through. I pray for their strength and peace. I know that Justin will never be forgotten. God bless all the family. RIP Justin Miller!

Thanks for always helping the people that looked up to you. It was always a big thrill for us younger rats when you would come around the field and throw pens or talk to us about pitching. You are a true South Bay legend. Many great memories and stories. God Bless

I've know Justin along with his parents Joe and Mona and brother Corey almost my whole life and we always battled it out against eachother throughout Lil League and it wasnt until we both were at Torrance high school that we became teammates!! Watching Justin step on that mound game after game pumping fastballs or throwing his nasty forkball making the opposing batter whiff or buckle at the knees was always an amazing sight since I had a great view of it all from the shortstop position!! Effortless and flawless Justin always had the raw natural talent and ability to do big things in baseball and I'm so thankful that I had the chance to be his teammate and friend on and off the field!! Justin my friend I can go on and on about stories and memories from our youth but I'm just gonna say that you are truly missed by MANY MANY PEOPLE and you have touched the lives of many and without you physically here with us wow is a tragic loss and a tough one buddy!! Thank you Justin for the many years of friendship and being apart of my childhood memories especially on the Baseball Diamond!! You are always gonna be missed but you will NEVER be forgotten!! You are a true Torrance Legend!! Love you buddy!! GodBless!!

I first met Justin when I was eleven years old. At the old Torrance Little League baseball fields on 235th st. The first time I stepped in the batters box it was trying to catch lightning in a bottle. Then a couple of years later I thought he was going to hit me in the head but the ball just hooked right in for a strike, just like Randy Johnson did to John Kruk. And if that wasn't scary enough...try being his catcher.
Justin was quite a character growing up on the field, always cracking jokes or razzing a teammate. He always kept the team in good spirits no matter what the situation. It was an honor to know him and play baseball with a future major leaguer. Rest in peace Justin.

It was sad to hear that Justin had passed away. We have fond memories of the the South Bay Sharks winter baseball and traveling with the team. God bless his wife and sons. And that he is looking down on them and protecting them.
Sincere condolences
