John Linden
John Phillip Linden passed away quietly at home on May 3. He was born in Los Angeles, California, on May 23, 1924. He grew up in Brentwood, graduated from University High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy following Pearl Harbor. He spent his military service as a radioman in the Pacific arena. Following the war, John studied engineering at UCLA and USC. They lived in Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach, moving to the Palos Verdes Peninsula in 1958, where they raised four daughters. John was an avid fisherman and amateur ham radio operator. He enjoyed traveling to Guyamas, Mexico where he had many friends. John was an animal lover, caring for many pets and feral animals over the years. He also loved listening to music, reading and having lively discussions right up until the end of his life. John was preceded in death by his wife, Helyn. He is survived by daughters Kathleen Spearman, Kristen (Tony) Moreno, Teresa (Mario) Barron, and Debi (Gary) Casement; grandchildren Isabelle Moreno, Mark (Debbie) Barron, Marlo (Steve) Aichele, Evan (Shelley) Howell, Eva and Joseph Barron, Erik (Jillann) Casamento, Garyn (Tim) Pearson, Yulia and Artyom Spearman. I had the privilege of being on John's team from the late 1950's on the HACON & Quick Fix programs and later was his "inside" guy when he ran the Pre F-14 marketing operation out of EL Segundo. A gentleman and mentor.

John was an outstanding executive, very much respected and admired by his fellow workers at Hughes Aircraft Co. Of all the executives in the Manufacturing Division in El Segundo, I admired and respected him the most. You can be very proud of the man that he was, I only wish more bosses were like him. Rest in Peace, John - you deserve it!
