I am just finding out that Ray Gabrinski... our phenomenal former councilman has passed away.
How I wish he were still with us. He was such a great example of what a city leader should be.
Rest in peace, Ray. Your good deeds live on.

I am truly sorry to hear about his family and my condolences to his family. I knew Ray through high school (Jordan) and he was always a "people person" and a person you would like to know.

Ray was a force of nature and a classic fighter for the little guy who tirelessly promoted an agenda of ideas to improve the quality of life in Long Beach. Tenacious in defense of his causes and gracious in defeat, Ray was one of a kind. The best kind.

Ray was a responsible politician AND a good man, a balance that is hard for many in government to achieve. We have lost an admired community leader and a staunch friend of the people. He will be missed and will never be replaced.

Ray was a great supporter of small businesses and a rare inspirational politician! Not only did he help expedite the licensing and permit process for us at the Blue Cafe but he was a regular customer and just a great guy! Thanks Ray for all that you said and did and your memory will be a lasting one for sure!

My sincerest condolences to the Grabinski family. I was a Long Beach resident during the years Ray was a councilman and I always knew that Ray fought tooth and nail for his city and district. He was down to earth and accessable, which is a lot more than I can say about most politicians these days. Thanks for your service to the community and rest in peace Mr Grabinski.

Ray was our councilman while I worked as an administrator at Long Beach Memorial during the late '80s through the mid-'90s. He was always accessible and you could always count on him to fight for the underdog. We had many a conversation over coffee and pie at the Bake 'n' Broil. Rest in peace!
