I am very sad to hear this. Arnie was the principal at Majestic Heights in 1979 when I was asked to open a classroom there for children with autism and significant emotional and intellectual disabilities. He didn't know much about students with those kinds of needs but he was so welcoming to me, to the families, and to the students. He gave us a great classroom right on the hallway with all the other kids. He came into the classroom often and was warm and friendly. He put me at ease and supported the many wonderful para-educators and related services staff who worked in that classroom. I will always be grateful for the leadership that he showed to us and the rest of his faculty and students, making sure that everyone belonged and became part of the community.

He made us laugh. All the young teachers enjoyed our FAC outings to the Boulderado. He made an indelible imprint. My deepest sympathies to Arnie's family.

Lots of wonderful memories of our many years at Louisville Elementary School. What fun the students and teachers had. I guess the most fun was when we all lined up and paraded downtown Louisville in our crazy Halloween costumes. It seemed to always snow or rain, but you always dresses up in some wild and crazy costume. You were the biggest kid of all. Those were good years. I look at the picture of you in your obituary, and it looks like you are just starting one of those LONG faculty meetings. You left us too soon, Arnie.

Our thoughts are with his family. The obituary said it all, what a special man he was. The part about making people feel special was especially true as I taught at LES while Arnie was principal and he ALWAYS made me (and his staff) feel special (and loved, and light-he always made us smile!!!). What a great guy-He will be missed.
