I was shocked and saddened to hear of Rusty's passing. He gave me my first job in radio back in 1978 when I was trying to make a career change. My condolences go out to his entire family and especially to his mother, Ann who was always so kind to me.
Rusty and I worked together for a couple of years 1979-1981...didn't always see eye to eye on everything, but still got along...he was a nice guy
in many respects. Sorry to hear of his passing...so young.
Truly unbelievable to read of Rusty's passing. The Shaffers hired me for my first job at KBOL-Boulder. Rusty, always, always was such a dynamic person. Blessings to his family, children and newly arrived grandaughter.
I was truly saddened by this news-Rusty was also my boss at KBOL with Ann and Russ still playing a major role. He always had a joke or a funny story. Great guy gone too soon.
Rusty was great to work with at the Bank of Boulder and then with ACS Merchant Services. He had the spirit of play and when he and Terry Hannham got on a roll - you could not laugh hard enough!! See you in a new body my friend.....when you decide to come back and do it again!
Rusty used to let me watch the broadcast at KBOL when I was a kid...he was a great guy!
I was fortunate to have worked at KBOL in Boulder from 1980--1986. Ann and Russ Shaffer were wonderful people and Rusty was a great boss, a truly good man. All who knew him and loved him have lost much with his passing.
Sad to have you leave us. I hold many fond memories of growing up together in Boulder and the years since. We will miss you, Rusty.
I remember Rusty from when I was growing up -- the Shaffer's were our neighbors. What a wonderful family -- we miss them.
As a friend and fellow swimmer at Boulder Country Club, Rusty was so much fun. Even babysat the Shafer bunch! I am crushed to read of his passing. Great family, so much fun...fond aloha old friend.
Rusty was more than the greatest brother-in-law to me...he was a cherished and respected friend. His legacy is LOVE for family and a HEART of good humor and laughter. I Love you, Miss you, and will ALWAYS remember you with a BIG smile! Love, Lee
I am absolutely devastated to learn of Rusty's death. He gave me my start in the radio business in 1978, and was a mentor and hero to me. God bless you, Rusty, RIP.
Rusty was a great man. I had the pleasure of working with him at the Bank of Boulder. The world is a better place because of him. My deepest sympathy to his family. Rest in Peace Rusty!
