Even though I only knew Kevin Burns for a few months, he is one of few people I would regard as a true friend. He was committed to his job and was the rock that pushed everyone to be better in their work. I worked with Kevin in the PM Shop at CU and it was Kevin who took me under his wing and taught me the trade. To know that our shop, the United States Navy, and most importantly the Burns family has lost such a great man is hard to stomach. But to have known Kevin and been able to experience what a great man he was is something that myself and everyone else who did know him should be proud to say. My heart goes out to Kevin's wife and son; your husband was a great teacher and a better friend. Kevin, I'll miss you but I know that you are in a better place.

My condolences to the Burns family. I worked with Kevin at CU. After work while walking to our vehicles we would talk about family and things we had going on in life. He loved his family very much. If you were having a bad day he always knew how to make you smile. Work will never be the same.

I know we spoke Julie, and I just want to tell the friends and family of this wonderful man I will always think of him as my friend, and shipmate. When he was in Hawaii we were able to do some very fun things. We swam with the sea turtles, paddled down the river behind our house into Haleiwa harbor, and had a wonderful sunset dinner on the beach there. He will be missed so very much by so many. God Bless.
