My condolences go out to the family... What a tragedy, I was in shock to see the obituary this morning. Dr. Mezger was my Neuphrologist and was the only Dr. That could cure me, although he said my disease could come back. So after 8 years I have the Smptoms I had before. I was thinking of making an appointment and my heart just sunk right now. Prayers going out to the family.
Dear Mezger Family,
We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you.
Dr Mezger was the most caring and giving Person/Doctor. I will miss his infectious smile and all his positive energy.
Our Prayers are with you always. I worked with Matt for over 20 years and Pat was one of my faithful Homebound Eucharistic Ministers.. What a loss!! My thoughts are with you kids!! Fernando and Peggy Vellanoweth
I knew Matt as a fellow biology major at Carroll College. He made us laugh and brightened the many hours in the lab. I now live in Flagstaff AZ and was so saddened to discover that he and Patty were the people involved in a recent accident here. All of Matt's Carroll College buddies will fondly remember him as a very bright, kind and funny person who made the world a lighter place.
I am sorry for your loss. Matt was a good doctor and a good man.
I was beyond shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Mezger and his wife's tragic passing. I worked for Dr. Mezger at Cap Neph for 4 years a very long time ago & absolutely loved and admired him. He was a truly caring, compassionate man both professionally and personally, and he had a great sense of humor. It's been almost 18 years since I worked for him but it feels like last year. I pray for comfort for their family in this difficult time ~ especially their 3 children. Madeline was the only one they had when I first started working for him & Thomas and John came along while I was there. I can still remember many stories he would tell about his kids, like how Madeline used to call Lake Tahoe "Lake Taco" when she was little. It was clear how much he loved his family and I can only say I'm so sorry and heartbroken for their loss.
It was an honor to have known you, Matt Man ~ May you and your sweet wife rest in peace....
Matt was a kind man and a great doctor. I'm so sorry for the loss of these two people. I hope that their family and friends can weather this grief.
I had the pleasure of working for Matt for 8 years. He was an awesom physician & boss. My heart & prayers go out to all of their family & friends.

While employed at Mercy Gen. Hospital, I worked with Dr. Mezger for many years. Always I admired his willingness to communicate, to truly care about his patients, and always being a gentleman. It was with great pleasure that I again had communication with him at the Newman Center masses that he and his wife attended. A few Sundays ago Matt must have been working and Pat was accompanied by a young man whom I think may have been her son. As I sat a few rows in back of them I can remember thinking that they must have been a close mom and son....just by their body language towards each other.
Such a huge loss for the children of Matt and Pat, and all the many family members who also loved them.
Time is the best healer; also the slowest healer. I hurt so much for all of you.
I am so sorry for your families loss. Dr.Mezger has been taking care of me for the last 10 years. He is an amazing and compassionate doctor. The kidney/dialysis community has lost someone great. May you both Rest in Peace.
My sincere sympathy to the families of Matt and Pat, especially to their children.
Matt was my first cousin, and I remember our siblings having fun times growing up, especially when they visited Grandma and Grandpa Mezgers' house in Zamora.
Paul and I are very saddened by your loss.
God bless us all,
Paul and Mary Beth (Anderson) Denis
