To the Barrera Family,

I have just learned of James passing with deep remorse. I met James in the early 90's while he managed a resume service in Citrus Heights. Needing such services I came to his business where we became good friends. Through him I came to know the Folklorico Latino de Woodland which he so richly supported thereafter contributing photos for the organization's publicity needs. To this day such a photo hangs in my home as a memory of those good times supporting the future of the Mexican culture and its traditions.

RIP James. I was lucky to know you at all. Thanks for the fun times and talks we had over adult beverages and the Billy Idol Rebel Yell CD you liked so much.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Barrera.

Ciao fratello,

Vinny

I can't believe Jimmy is gone. I met him at The Sacramento Bee, when I was a reporter and he was in The Bee's Newspapers in Education. I went on to write several stories about his roping and his Folklorico de Woodland. Jimmy, a true gentleman, loved to perform his remarkable rope tricks. I plan to be at the celebration of his life on 26 February. Jimmy, I shall never forget you! R.I.P My sincere condolences to his family. -- Edgar Sanchez

To the Barrera family- I was an Employee for the Sacramento Bee while James was in News and Education. I was in production and once a week; James would come and pick up printed copies for the school district. His personality was one of kindness and extroverted to a point of my enjoyment of communications he displayed. He even volunteered to speak at my niece's ballet folklorico! My prayers and Love go out to the Barrera family! Kris Selim

I just found out of James' passing yesterday. Use to see him in the hall ways at the Sac Bee. Always had a signature smile and was very giving & always made us laugh. RIP It is sad that we lose the good ones so early .
