Marge (Coxe) Becket and Laila (Coutts) Treat were first cousins, whose mothers Lucy and Ora were sisters. I understand the gown your lovely bride wore in the photo you carried in your wallet for so many years Jim, was hand fashioned and sewn for her, by Laila.
Ashley Treat and Laila were married for almost 40 years. Among his memories of Marge was her beautiful red hair.
Unfortunately Marge and I did not get to meet each other in person. However after many Christmas cards and letters we discovered that we had a common family genealogy project in the works so we did begin to correspond via e-mail, in the late 1900s. Marge very generously shared many pages worth of family history with me, asking that I share it with Laila's family and her sibblings, which I did. All of them were so pleased to get the information and so appreciative of Marge's dedication in compiling it.
I am sorry she and I did not get to meet. Her life sounds so interesting and full. I'm sure she was friends with many.
We extend our heartfelt sympathy to you and to your family.

Marge was there in my time of need. At a General Meeting she volunteered to take over the membership duties for the Yolo County Historical Society. I will always be eternally grateful that Marge was in the audience that day. For this, and other reasons, I will miss her.
