My heartfelt sympathy to Frank, the children and their family. Joan and I attended NY University Interpreter program and I enjoyed her friendship. I remember her soft spoken voice and radiant smile. Joan was committed to completing the program that I marveled on how she managed to stay awake in class each day from Kingston by train,to Grand Central to Manhattan and a subway or two to the Village. I last saw Joan when I visited her home in Saugerties. I was hoping to find Joan in my FB search. I am so sad tonight to learn about her passing and I am so sorry we lost touch but she was never far from my thoughts as I recall our days in NYU. I will treasure the memories. Sincerely, Anna

I feel so sad by the news of Joan's passing. Joan was an interpreter in my classroom at Zena School in Kingston quite a few years ago making a positive impact on me and my students. Because of her I became involved in sign language, bringing this beautiful language into my classroom each year. Joan was a talented interpreter, and so kind and nurturing to all the students in my class and we all loved her. Even though I lost contact with Joan after she moved away, I always thought of her with fond memories. The news of her passing has really saddened me. My sincere condolences.
