Irene G. Carroll RED HOOK - Irene G. Carroll, 78, of Red Hook, passed away suddenly on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. Born on Feb. 18, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Renata (Herget) Voltz. Irene married John C. Carroll on May 25, 1957 at St. Mary’s Gate of Heaven Church in Ozone Park, N.Y. and he survives at home. A communicant of St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook, Irene worked for a number of years at Fabric Bonanza in Kingston and also for the Red Hook Central Schools. An accomplished seamstress, Irene was a fan of the NY Jets and enjoyed vacationing with her family on North Carolina’s Outer Banks. In addition to her loving husband of 56 years, she is also survived by her children: Diane (William) Darling of Milton, Kelly (John) Collins of Tivoli, Lorraine (Brendan) Lawless of Milan, Jackie (Terry) O’Keeffe of Knightdale, N.C., Peggy (Patrick) O’Farrell of Red Hook, and John Carroll of Highland, her 12 grandchildren: Meaghan Darling, Kate, Daniel, and Michael Collins, Brendan, Christine, Dylan, and Josh Lawless, and Cory, Alley, Jack, and Will O’Farrell; a sister, Marion Dobson of Pearl River, N.Y., along with numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Agud and Ruth Voltz. Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Friday, Dec. 20th, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook. Memorial donations may be made in Irene’s memory to St. Christopher’s Church, 7411 S. Broadway, Red Hook, N.Y. 12571.
