My condolences to his family.
Back in the early to late 70's, when I worked in the chemistry lab, Dr. Lizzi would come in, through the back entrance, just past 5 p.m. when we stopped doing PF1 and 2's. He would stand at the receiving table, req and red top tube in hand and say STAT. I would get up and go over to him and say "Dr. Lizzi, now you know we don't do PF1 and 2's stat and we stop running these after 5 p.m. BUT if you like, I can change the PF1 to a Glu, Bun and Lytes." See, it was a game we played, he and I. What a sense of humor Dr. Lizzi had and what a compassionate doctor and man he was to his patients, often times, at their bedside long past the time most doctors would, ensuring they would be all right.
We shall not soon see the like of such a physician.
God Bless you, Dr. Lizzi.

Dr. Lizzi was a teacher of mine, at Branford Hall Career institute, in Albany NY. Dr. Lizzi was an amazing teacher, he had such a wealth of knowledge, and it was an honor for me to have been a little part of such a great mans life! My prayers and thoughts are with his family, his friends, and other collegues and students, such as myself- you will truely be missed DR LIZZI

My sympathy goes out to Dr. Lizzi's family. I recently had the honor of being a student of his at Branford Hall. He taught me so much and thanks to him, I have such an interest in cardiology. He will be sadly missed-his smile and greetings every time we'd run into him. I'm so thankful to have had the priviledge to be his student.

Andrea, Ann Maria, your dad was an angel on earth as a doctor and human being.
His commitment and dedication towards his patients and his profession was unmatched. I met him when I was a child and he told my grandfather how much he wanted to be a doctor. His work with Families In Need of Assistance.Inc was just unbelievable. His support for each client was remarkable. He met each patient at the emergency door with a wheel chair and stayed with them till they were settled. He fought for what he believed in. You should be so proud he was your dad. He is with the Lord watching over you forever. Love, Cindy

My sincere condolences in your loss to this most excellent man. I had the privelage to work with Dr. Lizzi for many years as a nurse on an oncology unit, and while most physicians devote their lives to their patients, Dr. Lizzi still went way above the call of duty and did much more than anyone could expect. He as equally kind and considerate of nurses and hospital personnel. For me, it was an honor and privilege to work with this excellent man. He was truly a saint and the best of men. I grieve for your loss
