You will be with Mike and your parents, that is a good thing
You were an inspiration and source of wild creativity. Gone too soon, you will be missed by many.
My thoughts and prayers to all of the Power's Family. I can not even imagine your sadness at this time.
I'm so very sorry to hear of the loss of Marty Powers . A very Brilliant and kind man . Rest in Peace Marty !
My very sincere condolences to the Powers family and everyone who loved and admired "Mr. Powers". My daughter, Kiki, had the amazing privilege to be in his 7th grade English class in 2011. He so inspired her! I believe she is on her way to, as Dave Powers said, "Grab the world and run with it and don't wait at all". Thanks for being such a blessing to my daughter and so many other kids!
Rest in peace, Martin. I will never forget you.
Dear Powers Family,
My daughter Savannah, my son Emerson and I are deeply sorry for your loss. Savannah and I remember him as the greatest English teacher ever! His dedication to his students, his passion for his work and his delightfulness in life will always be with the people who had the privilege of knowing him.
I'm sorry for Marty's passing. I remember as being so energetic and full of life. I'm glad he was able to inspire so many students
Marty, I'm still waiting for the book that I spent countless hours reviewing following our birthday dinners! I'll miss "our dance" that you faithfully, saved for me. And if my grammar is not correct, I know you are somewhere correcting me! You are loved and I will miss you deeply! I'll always remember Casablaca!
Martin was larger than life. He was so smart and so funny. I knew him through his love of music and witty banter. I am saddened by his loss but will always remember him. Please accept my condolences.
You will always n
be close to my heart and in my fondest memories on the links...
Martin and his two close brothers graced me with their golf antics and life stories for many years. Marty always appreciated the pageantry of life and the theatrics of a good game of golf and he always and honored "old school" in dress and in honesty for the game.
My clearest memories were for his contagious laugh and for his "fisted" right hand grip on the club which yielded a predictable trademark fade, one that was hard to outscore, and always had sage words about life's turmoil's and tribulations.
I will see you when I see you my dear friend... David Oie
I once played the angel Clarence in Its A Wonderful Life....and Martin played George Bailey, little did I know that he would get his wings before I did.....goodbye Martin..
Martin was a good friend. He once played George Bailey in a local theatrical production of It's a Wonderful Life. Like that character, he will be long remembered by the community he loved and celebrated. Thanks, Martin.
Dear Powers family,
We are so very sorry for your loss. I went to Kimball and have still fond memories of Mr. Powers. Not only have we lost a wonderful human being but also a fantastic teacher. He would always make time for his students. Mr. Powers, you will be missed.
Joshua von Rohr and family
To the Powers family, please know that Martin made a difference in the life of many young people. My three children had him as a teacher/theater director. They treasured there time with him and I was touched by his handling of a difficult situation at the time my children were students at Kimball. He was a wonderful teacher and will sorely be missed.
Rest in peace. You will be missed. I haven't seen you in long time, since high school graduation. You were remarkable then as you are now. Best regards to your family. Sleep well and watch over us. God bless

I was truly sorry to hear of Marty's passing. I met Marty in 7th grade and always knew him to be friendly and good humored. I never heard him say an unkind word about anybody. A genuinely nice person.
I will always have a special place for Marty in my heart. My memories of him as a young boy at the Elgin High basketball games when I was a cheerleader came flooding back. I will miss seeing him around Elgin and even at those high school games. My heart is heavy and my love, prayers and sympathy go out to the Powers family in your time of grief. ???

To the Powers Family
A friend of the Power's family for many years, I fondly
remember the Christmas caroling events they sponsored, gathering at the Power's home to board the small school bus and travel to senior homes in the area to share the season's songs of joy. Marty never seemed to mind standing and singing next to me even though I couldn't carry a tune. For your enthusiastic and ever encouraging approach to life I thank you Marty, you will be missed by many.
To the entire Powers Family! I am so sorry to hear of your loss! Marty was an amazing man! I have fond memories of him all the way back when my brother Bruce attended Elgin High School with his older brother! Marty always had a special way of welcoming you into his life! If you were one of the people who was blessed to have him as a friend, you always knew that you had a friend who had your back! He will be greatly missed.
Thoughts and prayers to the family. I have fond memories of his time sitting at Pauls counter giving us waitresses a hard time. My kids have also been influenced by either his teaching style or by him by a customer where they worked. He will be missed.
To the Powers Family,
I am sorry to hear about the loss of Marty. I have fond memories of our times growing up in Sherwood Oaks. He was a good friend. I am fortunate that a couple of years ago while back in Elgin/Chicago visiting my brothers I ran into Marty at Al's Café. I will always remember those few minutes, and how he never changed.
I am so sorry for you loss. He was my son's 7th grade English teacher, and always encouraged and supported my son. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
