Dear Carolyn and family,
I will always remember Jim with that big smile of his that went from ear to ear. He was so easy to know and to love and I treasure my precious memories of great times spent with you two when we were all young.
You all have my deepest sympathy at this difficult time. I know we can rest easy knowing that Jim is smiling down from heaven at all of us. He was one special guy!!!

Mrs. Corno & family (and brother Bernie too)

I am so sorry for your loss, please accept my most humble sympathy.

I first met Jim in the summer of 1965. I just completed my 2nd year at St. Mary's High School and a friend of mine asked me to cover for him while he went off to join the National Guard. His name - Tim McKernan. He worked in the mail room at KPLR-TV and wanted to ensure he got his job back when he returned. By then, Jim was working in the film room, wearing white gloves, splicing film and talking trash about how much better north county boys were at playing football than the boys from south city (I was the schools starting varsity running back). Brother Bernie added his 2 cents worth and as you might expect the "game" was on, the site, McCluer North H.S. on a Saturday afternoon.

I don't recall who won the game that day (it was a close one), but I do remember getting to know 2 remarkable guys who's personality, sense of humor and commitment to just being honest-to-goodness "good guys" that I've never forgotten them. And although I'm sad to hear Jim is gone now and I don't see Bernie as much as I once did, I'm glad that it happened - me, KPLR, the game and The Corno Boy's from North County!

Mr. Corno was a very kind and generous man that always made time for you regardless of the circumstances. As a friend of Jimmy and playing soccer with him at NIU we were lucky to spend time with him and his wonderful father.

God bless, thoughts and prayers with you.
