February 13, 2014
I happened upon this obituary and it hit an emotional chord, despite the fact that I had not seen Tom in a very long time. I was a roommate of Tom's in college and kept in contact until his graduation, when my parents and I dropped him off in the Chicago area. At the time, we both were not sure how our lives would end up, so it was nice to read about his life but sad it ended too soon. My regards to his family and friends at their loss.

I am deeply shocked and saddened to hear about the untimely death of Thomas. I never expected to hear this so soon. I was a co-worker at Abbott Laboratories, and enjoyed conversing with him in the breakroom at times. We worked at different jobs, but in the same general area. He retired near the end of 2012, and was a chemical operator. He seemed to be a very competent and conscientious employee. I remember him mentioning that he lived on Nippersink Creek, and discussing his vacations to Hawaii, and that he enjoyed motorcycling, and sometimes rode the motorcycle to work, and that he was involved with the Masons. He was very knowledgable about many things, and I will miss discussing things with him. He did mention that he enjoyed smoking cigarettes, off-hours, not allowed at work. I wonder if that may have harmed his health. However, I have not seen him after he retired, nor heard from him. I really liked him, and am very sorry to hear this. And he was younger than me, which makes me think about my own mortality as well.
