Maurie. You truly are a through gentleman. I too was a young boy of 16 (as was Eddie Moorhouse) when I was introduced to the profession of ambulance Officer. Your dedication and professionalism were inspirational. So much so that as a result, I am very proud of what I have become today. Based on the leadership and guidance of you, and some of your fellow senior officers of the time, we will endeavour to keep this an honourable profession. Thanks for the Memories “On That”. Ps have a beer with Lou Algate and Barry Ritchie for me till I get there.

RIP Maurie. It was always a pleasure to work with a true gentleman of the world and I am sure we are all much poorer for his passing. His work for the Ambulance Service was exemplary and of most value to the generation of Ambulance Officers who had the privelage to work with him. My sincere condolences to his family on such a sad time for all.

I remember coming to work at the Mackay Ambulance station as a young lad. I was just 16 years old. The year was 1980. Maurie was a Station officer at that time. There were only 2 Station officers those days. The other was Louie Algate. Bary Wright and myself were fresh out of high school. We looked up to these experienced officers. Now it is our time to lead the next generation. We hope to do it as well as you did Maurie. Sorry I was unable to attend today. My thoughts are with the family.

RIP Maurie and our thoughts are with his family, it was my pleasure as was many who worked at the QATB Mackay and then QAS, to work with Maurice, When discussing Maurice with Eddie Moorhouse and our experiences as young Ambulance Officers, and us thinking as new young ambos we knew it all, and now it is our turn, and wondered if Maurice was looking down on us saying yes seee what I was talking about!!
