David Allen Obituary

HAMPTON - Maj. David S. Allen (US Air Force, Retired), 83, died Friday, April 26, 2013. A native of LaCrosse, WI, he had been a Hampton resident since 1966. He retired from the USAF in 1971 following 21 years of service to his country. Never one to be idle and being very creative, he took up many hobbies including sculpting and glass blowing and participated in many art shows. He held a black belt in Aikido and had raised and raced pigeons, winning a race to Alabama and back. He was a published author, and for many years he co-owned and operated Coliseum Realty with his wife. Preceded in death by his son, Barry Allen, and his brother, Bruce Allen; survivors include his wife, Joanne Allen; his children, Steven Allen and his wife, Arlette and Laura Allen and her husband, Rod Johnson; his step-children, Dewey Carlton Yopp and his wife, Hyo and Teresa Y. Crockett and her husband, Brian; his brother, Kim Allen and his wife, Judy; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Amber, Jennifer, Susan, Tyree, Jesse, and Carly; and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service with Air Force honors will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 2, 2013 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel by Rev. Wayne Harrison. Memorials may be made to the Michael J.
