I think of Cousin Bill often, as the artist, the family man, the guy who worked and took care of those he loved, and the man who loved God and spread the Word to all who listened.

Miss you Cousin Bill! You were a great role model as a family man, and a person comfortable with his own convictions and above all his devotion to his faith. You were always a great host to me as a young man and student at Hampton Institute, and I still have the oil painting you gave me and Gale upon our wedding. I know you are enjoying the warm embrace of Lord Jesus as I offer these words. Thank you for being the strong African American man and good American citizen. You live on in the hearts of all who knew you.

To my next door neighbors,
Thank you for welcoming me into your family. "Clara, where is my cottage cheese and peaches?" I miss and love you so very much. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Keep holding on to God's unchanging hands.

Our neighborhood Godly warrior always sounded the Good News trumpet with his strong voice. If you didn't know about God, Mr. Tarpley was going to tell you about God. He was a hard working man who provided and lovingly cared for his family. Elm Street and Washington Street was blessed to have had him in our midst for many decades. Be encouraged Mrs. Tarpley, Barbara, Sharon, Richard, and Martel for we know he is with his heavenly Father. You all are in my papers.

Mr. Tarpley, another great soldier of Elm Ave and Washington St. Has gone to Paradise. You did alot for the neighborhood children with Bible studies skating and you even snow sled with us in the street. As always you gave us encouraging advice . God bless Mrs. Tarpley and the Family.

I will treasure the fond memories of cousin Bill and wife, Clare who offered loving hospitality to me during my years at Hampton. University. Like his mother,Aunt Esther Early, he early on accepted Jesus as his Savior, and became a minister of the Gospel., Rev. Tarpley was a loving and caring father who will be greatly missed.
My prayers to Clara, Barbara,Sharon,Richard & Martel.
