HOUSTON - Linwood Earl Howell was born 0ctober 6, 1926 in Richmond, Virginia, to John Henry and Ruby Dale Howell, and passed away on November 27, 2016. Linwood graduated from Newport News, Virginia, High School, served in the U. S. Army, then graduated from North Carolina State University with a B. S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. Linwood was employed by Reynolds Metals Company for 38.5 years in various professional and managerial assignments in the Richmond, Virginia area; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and El Campo, Texas. Linwood married Dolly Gay Vaughan and from that union came Cynthia Howell Coley, Linwood Earl Howell, Jr. (Melinda), Gloria Howell (Steve), Clint (Charlotte) Howell and Gaynell (George) Tullos. That marriage ended in divorce in 1973. In 1982 Linwood married Patricia Halbrook Parish Howell, acquiring two stepchildren, Peggy Parish Morée and James Parish. Linwood and Pat have five grandchildren, Ted (Kelly) Morée, Jack and Taylor Coley, Matthew Howell and Garrison Tullos. Linwood was predeceased in death by his parents, brothers Henry and Robert, sisters Evelyn Howell, Ruth Howell Rice and Mollie Howell Harrison. He is survived by his wife, Pat Howell, his children, grandchildren, a cousin, Alice Hufner (Jim), the mother of his children Dolly Vaughan Howell (Doanne) Carter, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at Mission Bend United Methodist Church, 3710 Highway 6 South, Houston Texas on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you contribute to the charity of your choice in Linwood's memory.
