I just found out that Frank Winkler has passed away and I am so sad. My sincere condolences to his wife, Kathy and the rest of his family. Frank was my teacher and my mentor. He played a big part in my life and my decision to become a math teacher. He was my math teacher during my senior year in high school and then my boss when I started my first job as a teacher in his math department at Millburn High School. I am so thankful to him for teaching me mathematics and how to be a successful teacher. Frank was a wonderful caring person and the best teacher and department head I could ever have asked for. He will truly be missed.

I'm saddened to hear of Mr. Winkler's passing. I was fortunate to learn with him on the lawn of Millburn High School over the spring of 1974 and then join his 1974-1975 class of "lazy 8". That was the year I discovered I could learn math. All three of my kids cried whilst I tried to "help" them with their math homework. I always started by drawing a unit circle which must have driven them nuts. But with Gordon McLean, another gifted math teacher here in Marblehead, all scored a 5 on the BC test their senior year, something I failed to do!

I absolutely loved Mr. Winkler and I'm terribly sorry to hear of his passing. I just looked him up online to check in with him and tell him how much he meant to me. I had no idea he passed away. What a warm positive energy he had. He wrote me the most beautiful recommendation letter for college and was my unforgettable AP Stats teacher. I hope his family knows how many hearts and minds he touched and that he was so very loved. I will never forget him.

Dear Winkler family,

My sincere sympathy to all of you. Mr. Winkler was my wonderful geometry teacher. I loved him, and was not alone! He touched many lives. May his memory be a blessing.
