So sorry to hear of the passing of Carl. He was such a kind, caring man. We would often see Carl riding his scooter with his dog Gretchen throughout the neighborhood. He would always stop and chat with Jerry and I as we worked in the yard. He was always happy, friendly, and never complained one bit. My condolences to you, Douglas and Kurtis during this difficult time. I will not be able to attend the funeral as I am in Florida. Marla, I will call you when I get home. Praying for you and your family. RIP my friend. Chris and Jerry Hasting

The words for such a person like Carl is Father to all who are younger than he. You know when you suppose to like up to our elders for wisdom and guidance, that was Carl. He was funny, kind, and great to be around even when he didn't feel good. I have no words for the loss we are experiencing right now, but the Lord our God is the Great Comforter take comfort in knowing he knew when it was right. Love YOU Carl Thanks for being a Friend. I attended church with Carl in Owendale when we in grade school and worked with him at Gm. We also left Bad Axe for the U.S. Army by bus in 1965..
Lots of good memories of Carl. Rest in peace ole friend.

I knew Carl as Mr. Welchner or “Doug's Dad.” I thought of him a lot tonight as I attended my son's first tackle football game. I'm pretty sure that he made it to each of our football games from freshman to senior year, many of them with Tickle the Eagle Beagle. But his support wasn't only at the games, Doug's friends and teammates were always welcomed in the Welchner home where we had some great times and nobody ever went hungry. I only hope that I can be as passionate and involved in my children's lives as Mr. Welchner was. To Mrs. Welchner, Doug, and Kurtis, I apologize that I can't be with you in person this week to offer my condolences and share good memories. Please rejoice in the fact that through his positive actions, Carl Welchner has touched many lives. I will be praying for you in this difficult time.
With Love and Prayers,
Tom Woody
