Bill SIMPKIN Obituary

SIMPKIN, Bill Sustainable Energy Inventor William (Bill) E. Simpkin, multi-patented inventor in high-efficiency sustainable clean-air power generation, and sought-after pianist, concluded his battle with metastatic cancer of the liver on Monday, June 13, 2016. He would have been 90 on July 26, 2016. Bill devoted the last 20 years of his life to sustainable, safe, environment-friendly energy production. Until mere days prior to his passing, he was intensely involved in the continual improvement and marketing of his US patented (China and EU pending) turbine retrofit that makes both rescue of ageing power plants, and vastly improved efficiency of newest energy technologies both a reality and a financial windfall. He has refused sale to any not committed to production. The work of HiEff Power LLC survives its creator! Having considered a call to the ministry into his early 30s, Bill recognized that his unique gifts were most fully used through his creativity as an inventor and as a musician. Playing dance-band piano paid for his degrees (BS, MS, PhD-ABD), and provided support for 82 years' worth of church school classes (from age 8!). Since his retirement from Lockheed-Martin, Bill developed an increasing following, playing for receptions, art shows, fund raisers, and parties, in addition to playing every week at church. Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, published writer Peggy Little Simpkin; a daughter, musician Dr. Deborah Simpkin King; two grandsons and their wives: Patrick and Elise Terrell King; and Michael and Hannah Miller King, and their newborn, Isaiah Wesley King; and hundreds of grateful devotees of his deeply expressive ministry through music. Celebration of Bill's life is planned for Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Park Cities Presbyterian Church, at 11:00A, and will be followed by a reception at the church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21st, 6-8:00P, at Sparkman/Hillcrest. The family has designated the following for memorial contributions in lieu of flowers: Park Cities Presbyterian Church: pcpc.org Redeemer Seminary: redeemer.edu Schola Cantorum on Hudson (choral 501c3 founded by Dr. King): ScholaOnHudson.org

Personally, I will miss Bill's wonderful smile and piano playing at Sunday School. He was
always ready and willing and certainly able to transpose to another key at the drop of a hat!
What a fine Christian and fine musician!!!

I will miss Bill's unassuming demeanor and sweet, smiling face along with his beautifully, uplifting and soothing music. Bill and you, Peggy, are a blessing to all you encounter. I felt so welcomed by you both when I arrived into town and the Covenant Class in 2003!
