Clayton Blocker Obituary

BLOCKER, Clayton Clayton Mark Blocker passed away August 2, after a brief illness, surrounded by Family and Friends. Born June 5, 1974 to John and Libby Blocker in Dallas, Tx. He was raised in the Park Cities and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1993. Handsome, observant, empathetic and an easy demeanor from an early age, he came to the attention of area casting agents thanks to the recommendations of teachers. This led to his lifelong love of acting. His warmth, humor and infectious excitement gave him the gift to form deep relationships. He became a welcomed addition to many families, literally and figuratively. This included his summer Camp Longhorn family where he learned as a camper and taught as a counselor for many summers, his Younglife family with whom he grew in knowledge and love of Christ, and his acting family where he came to learn and care for characters as deeply as his friends. Clayton attended Marymount College and graduated from Pepperdine University in 1997. He then spent nearly 2 decades in the entertainment industry. Later in his life he returned to Texas to work with friends and family in real estate, oil & gas and telecommunications. Clayton was the friend you told your dreams to; had time-bending multi-hour conversations that felt like 10 minutes. He had the ability to make the mundane exciting, the boring fun, and the painful short-lived. One of his greatest gifts to those he cared for was the fact that he remembered it all. As a result, he felt his truest wealth were his friends, no matter place or time. He will be the friend that comes to mind when that old song is heard. His families are grieving now but believe the last time we saw him, heard his booming laugh, and watched him light up a room will not be the final time. He is survived by his mother, Libby; his father, John and wife, Gail of Dallas; sister, Elise and nephew, Blake of Atlanta; Uncle, Mike Hull of Aspen, Co; Uncle, Gene and Aunt, Jennifer Blocker of Cleveland, Oh; Aunt, Nonnie Blocker of McAllen, Tx. He is preceded in death by grandparents Dr. and Mrs. Brandon Hull; Harry II and Margaret Blocker. A celebration of Clayton's life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 6306 Kenwood Ave, Dallas, TX 75214. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the GO MATSUURA Lecture Series at Marymount California University, 30800 Palos Verdes Drive East, Ranch Palos Verdes, CA 90275-6299 -or to the charity of your choice.

Clayton was a close friend of Go Matsuura while at Marymount College back in 1994 and mourned Go's loss when he was murdered and when I made a documentary film about the murder of Go Matsuura Clayton contributed to it - gave his all in expressing how awful he felt losing his friend. And now we have to feel awful again losing someone as lovely as Clayton. May heaven reward you, Clayton, for all the good you've done in your short life.

Deepest condolences to the Blocker Family. Clayton's laugh was infectious, his spirit took charge of a room and his quick wit and humor could make anyone laugh. Clayton had a sensitive soul and knew when to reach out to his friends. He was "that guy" in theater class that could act better than everyone. He was "that guy" who was the life of the party. His early graduation to heaven leaves many hearts broken, but we know that his spirit lives on.

It is obvious by everyone's post that Clayton touched so many lives in such a positive way. He had the ability to make all of his friends feel special. He continued to stay in touch with everyone he knew throughout his life. That is unique and we should all learn from him that life is short and we must stay connected to those we love and have made a difference in our life. I hope these post offer comfort to his family. He really loved his family and I remember his decision to move back to Dallas had a lot to do with getting back to his roots and his family. Although his life was short he packed 1000 years of living and he still lives within us. He would be humbled by all the love on this wall. To his family I cannot imagine your loss but hope you find comfort in knowing Clayton is still with you in spirit

An Indian prayer:
Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you wake in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft starlight at night. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there. I did not die.
