Nix, David Rogers Went to be with the Lord May 15th, 2014. He was born in 1932 to Mary and Alonso Nix in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in University Park where he attended school. He played football at Highland Park High School. He played many positions but excelled as a running back. David was extremely loyal to the "Scotties" as he was in attendance at most Friday night games. He was also active in the Boy and Eagle Scouts. David attended S.M.U., pledged SAE fraternity and was on the swim team. He graduated from North Texas University with a BA degree in business. He entered the U.S. Air Force and fulfilled his dream of being a jet pilot. His love of flying remained throughout his life. David enjoyed athletics-skiing, tennis and eventually golfing with his church friends, Tom McClellan, Fred Renner, and Rich Thomas. He often went deep sea diving with his long time friend, Jack Goodier, and was an excellent marksman winning awards for skeet shooting. Being an avid outdoorsman, David left the insurance business and formed his own company in 1982 called Textured Surfaces. David loved the Lord. He and Norma joined The Highland Park United Methodist Church and became active in The Wesleyan Fellowship Class. He served as president, treasurer, and social chairman. The fellowship he received there provided a strong influence in his life. David leaves behind his beloved wife, Norma; his son, Randy Nix; grandsons, Charlie and Robert Nix; granddaughter, Randi Tenille Nix; great grandson, Kason; niece, Karen Klein; nephew, Brooks Klein and wife, Betty; cousins, Jabe Wills, Rachel Vajgert, Barbara Pulliam; and his faithful loving dog, Sadie.
