I have known Don since our life guarding days in 1955, and 56, in Darien CT, and what a time we had. Although many miles have generally separated us since then, we managed to stay in touch and visit, and I have always considered him a close friend. I put a high value on humor and he is by far the funniest person I ever met. His embellished stories sprinkled with impersonations and facial expressions were priceless. Some stories, involved his high school class, and after a while, I felt like I knew half of the class. My wife who is Irish thought the world of him and his lovely Irish wife Joan. He also had the kind, considerate side that has come out so ably in the tributes. We'll miss you, Deets. Keep up those stories.

I was fortunate to meet Don in 2003 at the orientation at Texas Wesleyan Law School. He was sitting next to me when the Dean was telling a story of a man that came out of retirement to attend law school; he was talking about "Donny". We became fast friends during our law school years. He was always there to brighten the day with a story or just the warm smile that he always carried with him. I will truly miss this remarkable man! Thanks for all the smiles and love you shared with all of us!!

My condolences to the family of Donald DeDitius. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. I'm a former co-worker of his son, John DeDitius, who is also a very close friend of mine. John is a outstanding person and I'm sure the rest of his family is also. May God give you strength and comfort at this trying time.

When "they" say, "he was an original," everyone nods and agrees... only Don WAS an original. We'd never met anyone like him, and likely never will again. 'So glad he and Joan are reunited... and another reason to thank Louie's for providing the venue and atmosphere for becoming friends with some of the most amazing characters in the world.
