Don was an old world gentleman, which is a rare treasure these days. I'll never forget how he made me feel so welcome in his home. He and Toni are such wonderful hosts and Don had such a gentlemanly way about him with a hug and a big smile to greet his guests. Don's sense of humor! He told the best stories and I never could decide if some of them were real or jokes that he made his own, but it doesn't matter because they were hysterical and he truly enjoyed telling them and entertaining people. There was specifically one about a neighbor and a motorcycle that I'll never forget. If you knew Don at all, you knew that his family was not only his pride and joy, but his number one priority. He was a wonderful husband, father, father in law, and grandfather and he enjoyed every minute with his family. I am so sad that Don passed away, but thankful that his suffering has ended. Please hang on to the memories and the love- I know you miss him terribly. Sending prayers and hugs to your family. Love you all. Jana, Gerald, Jack and Chloe

Dear Toni, Debbie, John, and family,
I cannot tell you how sad it made me for all of you that you have lost you partner, friend, father, and chief cheerleader. I am sad for myself also that after that wonderful visit we had reconnecting the family after a long time, I did not get the chance to spend more time with Don. His humor, wisdom, and endless hospitality made me feel as if I were coming home after a long time. All of you did. I know this will be the greatest loss any of you can suffer, but be happy for the wonderful times you had together. I share some of your loss. Take comfort in knowing he is at peace and free of pain now. Know that my thoughts are with you and wish you all peace and happiness in the future.
Kindest Regards,

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you Toni and all your family. We miss Don, his love of life and his devotion to his family. We shared a Northwestern University connection with Don and loved hearing his Chicago stories.
May love and peace surround you.

A beautiful tribute to a loving man. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. In life and in his passing he will always be a treasure. Extending my deep and heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.
