I have worked with Dr. Hempel for the last 3 1/2 years at Baylor. The patients loved him. I enjoyed working him. I thought of him as a grandfather. I wanted to make him cookies! He was always so kind to me and my family. I will truely miss his gentle sweet spirit.

I didn't know Dr Hempel, but I met Mrs. Hempel, and Emily. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. With your strength you will help and hold each other up. Until then..Feleccia...Baylor Hospital

My mom (Barbara Russell Fisher) told me about Dr Hempel yesterday.

As I thought about it during the day, he was in all actuality, the most important doctor that I had ever met. He unknowingly became our hero the day he saved my wife's life which also gave us the opportunity to have our second child and be a family of four and not just my son and I against the world. My mom had known him since middle school and begged us to get a second opinion from this man before my wife had a procedure another doctor had ordered. Thank The Lord for Moms and Dr Hempel, he found an aneurysm and felt the other procedure would have been fatal. I know he has helped endless amounts of patients throughout his life, but for me, he was an Angel before his time for my family. He was such a kind and funny man when we needed it, Peace and Grace to him and his family tonight...

It's funny, Dr Hempel retired just after my wife's surgery. I think he was holding out for my mom's grand children and he didn't even know it or us at the time... Life is great like that! God Bless!
