AJ was a love. The last time I saw her was in April at the district UIL meet at Martin. I told her how great retirement was. She said, "I'll never retire. I'll teach until I drop." How prophetic! She lived for her students. She was true to Bowie. She was never judgmental; she was always smiling. AJ was a joy to know.
AJ: Viv and I miss you so much and now that catch up visit this summer will have to wait. Your support for the Drama kids was unflagging and your wisdom always solid. You could make blue jean teacher coveralls cool: not many folks can. All our love.
Its going to be hard to not to see that smiling face in the hall way
i never really got the chance to sit down and talk to her but the little chance i did have to talk to her she was always funny and outgoing...she going to missed

Ms. Fisher was aan amazing teacher and great sponsor for the Bowie GSA she opened my eyes to so many new things and helped me break out of my shell. It's not even really goodbye, its see you later!

I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT.. U MAD ABIG IMPACT ON MY LIFE!. SINCERLY BARRON G.. THE KID WITH THE BIG BOXX...
I had only 2 best friends in my lifetime and one of them was AJ. My memories of gathering on Thursday nights to peruse mail order catalogs, drink a snifter of Remi-Martin, and watch Knots Landing are precious. No one could coin a phrase like AJ. I still use, "You can never be too rich, too thin, or use too much butter". When ever I would complain about one of our friends, she always responded with,"They are weird and wonderful just like us". I enjoyed sharing our love of cooking and the fun that came with being around her. I wish her family the best. Love, Nellda Gallagher (Fort Worth)
OH Ms.Fischer i will miss her so dearly, she was one of my favorite teachers during my sophmore year. I enjoyed being in her BCIS class, enjoyed having her as a teacher, she would put a smile in my face every moment i'm in her class, my prayers goes out to her family and friends and May God Bless Her.
Love you Ms. Fischer, we shall meet again in the kingdom of God.
I loved Ms. Fischer & will miss her dearly. She was happy all the time and always had a positive attitude when it came to her students & I enjoyed being in her accounting class. There will never be another spirit like Ms. Fischer @ Bowie she was truly one of a kind.
Love & Miss You Ms. Fischer
The world is a little dimmer without you in it AJ. If you were separating those long eyelashes with a safety pin after mascara or chasing my doberman with a log cause he was after your kitty you were always the best!! Now once again you and Don can laugh those warm, infectious laughs that i will always remember and all is right in the world!
Brett Foster Washington,D.C.
You were more than just my accounting teacher, but you were a friend, a mentor and one who would give so much. I will never forget when you always talked about the show playmakers or when you tried to share your lunch with the entire class. I am full of joy because I know your in paradise. My sympathy goes out to the family because you already know how wonderful she was. God Bless, I Love You and I hope to see you one day Mrs. Fischer.
AJ did live in the moment. She loved her newpaper, "The Ticket", the Cowboys, her cats, her garden, Bowie (GO VOLS!), her friends and family, and her best friend ever, Don. Nobody can broil a bagel like she could, or make a better Blue Margerita. She had great taste, and was always kind. She is a master teacher, and will continue to be, for she endures through all the students she has touched. Thanks for everything, AJ. Peace and Love
As one of the "originals" to open BHS in 1991, AJ was instrumental in setting the tone and atmosphere that was so important in getting the "new" Bowie off to a good start. It was a small faculty/staff compared to the size it is today and friendships were made that first year which are still special to all of us today. AJ never wavered in her enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students and for supporting her co-workers. We need more people like AJ in education today! AJ joins our band of angels, Patsy, Bob and Jan. My deepest sympathy is extended to the family and to the BHS faculty/staff.
Abbie Jo was a very loved daughter, cousin, friend and teacher. She will be very missed by all who knew and loved her. Her beautiful spirit will always be with us, as will our love for her.
She was my daughter's teacher and were so nice and special person for her, Shaury will remember her forever. We are so sad but we knows Mrs. Fischer will be on a better place, God Bless her and family forever.
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
R.I.P ms.fischer she always made me smile each and every day when i came in her classroom no matter how mad i was or what kind of mood i was in she found some kind of way to make me smile. She was so young at heart she could easily relate to alot of us teenagers thats what made her so special you will be missed ms.fischer, and may god bless the family of ms.fischer.
The one word that comes to mind when I think of AJ is giving...she was continuously giving to anyone she encountered. Whether it was through her teaching, her stories, her laughter, her love, or most importantly her glorious smile...she was always giving. That spirit will never leave the halls of Bowie High School.
AJ ... I haven't seen you in 10 years, since I left my teaching job at Bowie. But I remember you well ... you always had a smile on your face for everyone, were kind, positive and had a fun sense of humor. You will be missed, and from what I understand, it will be very difficult to fill your shoes at JBHS.
Abbie Jo was a loyal and true friend with an infectious laugh and a heart of gold. "Miss Texas", you are irreplacable. Say "Hi" to Don and the rest of our gang on the other side--and save me a good seat!
Love, David Hall (Dallas, TX)
We are so sorry for your loss. May God bless your family and speed your healing.

We will miss you forever. You have left a lasting impression on the lives of all that you have touched. Your happiness, free spirit, and love of life is an inspiration to us all. Your kind and caring words and jestures were always welcomed. Our love for you will live in our hearts forever.
A. J. was truly a light in this sometimes dark world. She touched many lives before leaving this earth. We walked the halls of Bowie High School together for 17 of her 19 years there. Whenever, we met we always greeted each other with a smile and the smiles were always real. She captured the hearts of many of her students and the staff around her. Her sense of humor, candid statements, and love for life will be remembered most. She is now in her resting place and I'm sure she will bring joy to everyone there, too! Co-Worker and Friend.
Words can not express how much you will be miss. You truly lived life to the fullest. Your smile, humor and love of life will be miss.
Momma you know that you meant a lot to me! You were my AMAZING FISCHER! <3 You will always be missed, loved! You have left big shoes to fit in for graduation! I LOVE YOU MOMMA!

I worked at Bowie with AJ years ago. I will always remember her smile...big, beautiful, and constant. My dear Bowie family has suffered a great loss as has the world.
I will miss Ms.Fischer very dearly, she was the one who showed me that i didnt have to be ugly or negative person. She showed me that i can be me and just let my personailty shine like smile.....i will always remember you and the great person that you were to the whole james bowie high school.....and standing their holding your sprint stick!
I didn't know AJ personally but she was a part of the AISD Business/CATE Department. When we would go to CATE meetings and she was there, she was always the life of the party and full of energy! My heart goes out to my fellow Business Dept. teachers at Bowie HS. Please know that you have my deepest sympathy! God bless!
I worked with Abby Jo at Kentron and even though it had been years since I had seen her I always remembered how joyful she was. I am really sad to see such a lovely smile fade from the world. I am so sorry for your loss. Linda Curbo (Euless, TX)
Our family was saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Abby Jo. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends during this difficult time.
Gaslighting...those who went to Paris with us in 2002 will know what that means. I loved Abbie Jo. I will miss her so much. All else pales in comparison to her sense of humor, her frankness, and her smile. The world just became a little darker. I love you A.J. Enjoy your time with Donnie.
My best friend. My Jo.
I only wanted to be in your and Donnie's presence. I moved to Arlington to be near you. I got a job at Bowie because I needed to see you everyday.
Awake, you were/are/will be with me. At night, I dream about us and will do so until the day I die.
Please give Donnie a big hug and kiss for me. I love you more than life itself.
AJ was someone that always had time for me when I first moved to DFW and started teaching at Bowie. I didn't know many people there, but she made me feel welcome and always made sure that I was doing okay as a new teacher. She always had a smile and always had a way of making me smile in turn. She was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed by everyone she encounted. She may be gone, but will never be forgotten.
My condolence to the family, I have a senior and a junior that attend Bowie High School
How very sorry I am that Abbie has died.
It will be so nice when "death will be swallowed up forever" and nobody has to suffer.
She rests in peace.
In 2005 I began teaching and coaching at Bowie, I met AJ when I was a floating teacher into "her classroom". AJ made me feel welcomed and and loved, and I never felt like an intruder. She made it "our room" and was a welcoming smile everyday. I have since moved to another school district, but always remember her love for the students and her ability to build relationships with them. Bowie has lost an amazing teacher, but more importantly we have all lost an amazing friend!
I remember the first time I met AJ it was August 2006, she walked into the room and all I saw was a huge smile and hearing the words "Welcome to Bowie High School" from that day on I knew I had just met someone who would be near and dear to my heart. I know that I will miss AJ from dealing with seniors to graduations tickets, and then the "BIG SHOW" as she called to giving me the constant courage that I too one day would become a business teacher as I had dreamed. I remember back in Jaunary when I left Bowie to become a teacher she came into my office carrying a big white bag and she told me " You see, I told you,you would be a teacher like me, just remember to always love what you do because no one can and will do it better!" That is why I know my heart is hurting because I love her and I will continue to love her.
I will miss her sweet smile and happy spirit.
Susan Atkins, Clinic Assistant, Bowie High School
With the mantra of "Peace & Love" AJ graced us with her presence every single day at Bowie HS and was a true example of the phrase "living life to the fullest". She was a friend, mentor, member of the tribe, and an all around fabulous person that words cannot fully describe. I will miss you every single day and I will never forget how you made this world a better place in more ways than I can count. See you at the party hippie girl. Peace and Love AJ...Peace and Love.
I loved A.J. and will miss her dearly. She had such a great attitude, smile, and always made me laugh. We have shared many conversations and I always listened to every word because she was so interesting. She loved life and loved Bowie staff and students. I worked with her on graduation one year when we had students blow up beach balls and start flipping them in the air while on stage. I can still see her face. Heaven will be welcoming A.J. with both arms.
Aj's smile lit up the room when she entered and that funny nasal laugh that she had will really be missed. Her free spirit was contagious. You are our angel. We miss you.
AJ added a special element to Bowie High School. She had a love for teaching her students, and helping to make a difference in the lives of many. The impact that she made shall be everlasting. I pray that her soul will rest in peace.
A.J. was a totally awesome person! I spoke with her every single day at lunchtime while in line in the bathroom. She always made my day because of her good mood. A.J. will be missed by everyone who knew her. It is a tremendous loss for all of us.
Words cannot express how I felt about AJ. She was the epitome of happiness, optimism and laughter. I don't ever remember seeing her without a smile on her face. Her passion for life, her students, friends, teaching and family are irreplaceable. I will forever love and miss you AJ.
Many years ago, AJ welcomed me to Bowie HS with open arms. She introduced me to "The Ladies of the Lounge," and I decided that night that she must be my friend. I already miss our daily meetings in the hall, her love of life and, most of all, her laughter. Thank you for being my friend.
Abbie Jo will be missed for the rest of my life, but her smile, laugh and
ever present love for all she surrounded herself with will live on in
all of us. She was my soul cousin and
will be with me forever. My heart aches but her love will always keep me
strong. Continue to be happy "GO COWBOYS"
Words cannot express how much we will miss you. You have been my friend, my confidant, my colleague for so many years. You were the essence of Peace and Love. I will be forever changed by knowing you.
Live, love, laugh and enjoy the ride - Ms. Fischer showed us how it should be done daily!!! What a wonderful person to know! I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Fischer 3 years ago, but it only took the first meeting to see the love, joy and peaceful spirit that she possessed and so graciously allowed to overflow in her daily interactions with others. She was and will forever be an amazing part of our lives. Her physical presence will be missed, but her spirit will forever be a part of the many lives she touched.....
Working with AJ was a joy. She loved her students and her fellow teachers. She could always make me laugh. She changed many lives with her upbeat view and her passion for teaching. You will be sorely missed. God Speed AJ
AJ touched everyone she knew with a light, a laugh and a smile. We will miss her friendship, her joie de vivre, her compassion and her love of all creatures, great and small. May her spirit soar.
