I will always rememeber Woody's positive outlook on life and his gentle humble nature. I came to know him later in his life, but always enjoyed our many conversations.
I will miss him greatly.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the extended Achauer family on the loss of Woody. He was an exceptionally kind and decent man. You are all in my thoughts.

Woody and I worked together when I had first joined ARCO in 1977. He was very kind in showing me the "ropes" and helping me adjust to the new environment. We also went on field trip to New Mexico together where I learned a lot from his knowledge of carbonate rocks. He was always thorough gentlemen.
Please accept my condolences for losing such a wonderful person.

My deepest sympathy to all the family and friends. Woody was a kind and generous person, willing to help everyone (even young, inexperienced geologists like me). I remember Woody's smile and laugh when I would come into his office with a hair-brained idea.. then he would cock his head and pause to think.. He would always think.. and then give sage advice. He was always open to ideas and was never condescending to young geologists. I continue to look to him as a model for kindness and integrity.

Woody: Thank you, Sir, for all you taught me. We miss you, but your legacy lives on in the many people you taught, advised and worked with. God Bless.
