I have known Dave and his family for almost 60 years. My family attended the same church, and Dave's daughter Janet, was a classmate of mine from elementary through high school.
Dave provided me with my very first job at his company, Temp Air. I worked for him as a heating and air conditioning technician during summers and breaks while in high school and college.
Dave was a wonderful mentor. He taught me electrical, electronic, and refrigeration trouble shooting skills, and most importantly, how to treat customers!
Dave lived “The Golden Rule” and the Boy Scout Law and Oath in all his personal and professional activities!
Good bye, Dave, from a fellow genealogist, ETSU alumnus, techie, pilot, and Scout.
-By John Gillespie Magee, Jr.
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of- wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
A kind and loving man who will be missed dearly by his family; my condolences to all.
He is with The Lord and in peace . May his family feel that joy. Love to all of you !
Dave was a true Christian friend to all whom he encountered in his life journey. One of his favorite hymns - Hymn Of Promise - tells us that "in death there is resurrection", and he has risen to be with Him in heaven, but his spirit will live forever at Ridgewood Park UMC. Dave, tell Him thanks for the gentle rain.
Dave used to meet with my students at Bryan Adams HS. He will be missed.
Dave was a great friend and an outstanding father-inlaw. I looked upon him as my father. I did not get to say goodbye to him, but if I could have, I would simply say two words: "Semper Fi"
So sorry for your loss Nancy. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
So sorry for your loss. Nancy and I were in a carpool to Ridgewood Park Kindergarten back in the 1960s, and I've never forgotten your family. God bless.
Dave was a great friend to scouting and a pillar of our church. Our family was blessed to have known Dave. Our prayers are with Lannie and the family.
My prayers go out to your family in your time of sorrow - A wonderful husband, Father, friend and teacher - he will truly be missed.
