dear friends and family of 'Mr. Hammel', the teacher and counselor and role model that we had growing up: He had such a positive influence on my life. He always had the right advice, chuckle, or calm answer to my daily troubles while in high school. His Wider Horizons for Youth program could be a national high school program. WHY was so effective and clever to help alternative youth find their way into the adult world in a productive way. What a blessing to have known him. Love, Linda Grace (Wehling) Freeman

When Ken and I were colleagues at Wyoming HIgh School, I could count on Ken stopping by my classroom door daily to entertain my students and me with his mangled French. I could also count on his open office door to all Wyoming students and staff who sought his wise counsel. Thank you, Ken, for the laughter and the guidance.

Some of my very best memories from McAuley involve Mr. Hammel; he was a man of great humbleness, kindness, generosity, and care.
